Robert Siegel, the screenwriter of 'The Wrestler' will be premiering his directing debut, 'Big Fan' August 28th in NYC an Philadelphia. 'Big Fan' was Siegel's first script, and generated a lot of buzz in Hollywood. Darren Aronofsky took an interest in the script but then recruited Siegel to write 'The Wrestler'. After the success of 'The Wrestler', Siegel was determined get the screenplay he was passionate for made, and he filmed 'Big Fan' on a limited budget in only 23 days. That's cool. I love it when a writer gets some clout and can pursue their passion-project. A perfect example is Andrew Niccol being able to direct GATTACA after carving a name for himself with THE TRUMAN SHOW.
