The Champion Screenwriting Competition received more than 560 scripts this year and around a hundred of those were shorts. The readers are almost done with the first round of scripts and I will announce the 100 (approximately) quarterfinalists in about a week in the next issue of Craft & Career as well as at the Champion site. I am currently reading quarterfinalists and am going to try to have the winners chosen within a month.

Alex Tse - who co-adapted Watchman - is going to be the subject of an extensive interview for next month's issue of Craft & Career. Please send any suggestions for questions.

I added 5-6 seats to my weeklong class A-List Screenwriting: The Immersion to the top writers in the contest. Because not everyone will be able to make it to New York or Los Angeles, there is probably a 20% chance that any given quarterfinalist will be able to take the workshop.

SAVE $500 ON A-LIST SCREENWRITING: THE IMMERSION

New York City - November 7-11 * Los Angeles - December 7-11

A-List Screenwriting: The Immersion is a unique weeklong screenwriting course. Participants submit their scripts in advance and I hand-select excerpts to use as teaching tools and as inspiration for parts of the class.
Writers who want to take the class without submitting a script beforehand may take the class for half of the $999 full price: $499. Their scenes will still be workshopped, but the lecture and exercises will be less tailored to their specific writing.

To take the class without submitting a script, use the discount code: NOREAD and the price will be $499.

To take the class and submit your script beforehand, you can still save $200. Use the discount code: CHAMPION and the price will be $799.

"I had the privilege of attending A-List: The Immersion. This was not just a class. It was a reconditioning of my creative mind. It was, for me, as well as the others who attended, a life-changing experience."
- Jill Wallace
