As you know, Bob, I very much enjoyed Mystery Man's exposition article.

Gets you nothing, my friend!
What *other* articles or interviews did you like?
- Bill
Yours finished 2nd for me this month, and I'll have to second the Exposition is a Pain in the Ass nom - I was worried it would use tired old examples (like when he started in on Indy, I thought he was going for the old 'let's talk about the Arc in the school' bit) but it was actually quite good.
BTW, That 10 Big Mistakes... piece by Jim didn't make a lot of sense, as most of the numbers/titles worked well with the concept, while a few were switched around or didn't match at all.
How is one of the "10 Top Mistakes..." "3. Scribe Pigeonhole Thyself" when that's what he's recommending you do? I read it the opposite initially, that he's recommending a scattershot approach covering all genres. And why is "4. The Gravy Train Will Run Out of Coal" a mistake? It's more like a fact of life. I realize the paragraphs explain it, but skimming it quickly, a few of the titles had me scratching my head.

One of the things in that article that I found surprising was the agent who is clearly *ageist*... and *says it* in his quote. I mean, why allow yourself to be quoted saying something like that?

I liked all of it. But I tell you what I would like to see...
an article that would explore any new advancements in sub-genres that have been dying of late -- like the straight action film, or the buddy comedy, or the caper comedy.

1. Exposition is a Pain in the Ass
2. Ensemble Casts
3. Screenwriting Snafus
Bill, please can you use whatever influence you wield over Script Magazine to get a new photograph used for the Dov Simens' 2-Day Film School advertisement.
The picture kind of creeps me out, but whenever I come across it, I can't help staring at it.
It also makes me wonder if he and John Ratzenberger have ever been photographed together.

I'd love to read it, but the Borders here has not got it in as of Saturday Oct 10 -- ridiculous. I think some stores have chosen to carry just one screenwriting magazine...
