Here's the scoop. After writing four screenplays, I have decided to do a complete rewrite on my first screenplay. While it was technically flawed, the story was intriquing.

I have changed the name of the script, the main characters, the dialogue but everything else is pretty much within the original story plotline and subplots. Do I have to reregister under the new Title or would I be able to use the WGA# of the original screenplay?

I don't mind shelling out the $20 but a penny saved is a penny earned....

Funny you ask. I was just at the Guild yesterday and I overhead a woman ask the very same question. The person in the registry office said if there are any "dramatic changes in structure and story" it is highly suggested to register the script again. Anything less than that, is a judgement call. There are cautious/paranoid writers who register everything, which helps to keep the lights on at the Guild.
