My only quick observation is, some of those have a real lack of votes to throw to the wolves. I mean you have some execs that have 5 votes yet meet hundreds of writers/industry types a year. 5 votes does not justify being slammed and posted on what will be one of the most talked about links in the industry this week. Just a shame. They should have had at least a 20 vote minimum to give you a realistic cross section.

If I had 5 people that said I was a dick and this guy posted me on here as one of the most hated, I'd be real pissed, considering there's another hundred out there that think I'm a nice exec.

I don't know - did that many writers vote on this? I suspect it was mostly assistants and junior execs (that's who I heard talking about it) - and it pretty much matches up with my sense of who's nice. Sean Finegan @Silver, f'rinstance, is indeed a really good guy.

I probably should have excluded "writers" from my post, but that wasn't my point. The point is, would you consider 5 industry votes enough to place you in this category? Just sayin'. I've met four of these guys too and though I might agree with a few assessments, I still find the vote count a little subjective to say the least.

I laughed aloud when I saw Andrew Berstein @ Sparkler Entertainment was voted one of the LEAST-liked execs. That man has been nothing but awesome to me since he pushed like hell to get my script sold last year.

And the fact Dan Farah was listed as one of the most WELL-liked? Well, I don't think I need to tell you what I think of that.... :rolleyes:

Also -- what is the point of this list? Think about it.

I know the head of Studio X is a jerk. 1500 people hate him. But I'm in the room with him, do I act different? Do I say, "No I'm not going to work with you, I've heard about you..." I would never sell my script to that jerk. Yeah right.

Blacklist tells people -- yeah this scripts are good -- read them.

All this list does is well, nothing.

The Brown List has been getting some attention, but this is the blessing and curse of the Internet. Any jacka$$ with a computer can start a blog, but standing on a soapbox does NOT make that person an authority. Screenwriting blogs are especially egregious because, well, us writer types like to write and be heard, but as a group we're notorious for being 99% incompetent. Frankly, most blogs about our chosen trade aren't worth reading. Good for Temp X for turning heads, and the list is fine for sheer entertainment, but it shouldn't be taken seriously. At all.

And no, my name wasn't on either list. But I did used to have a blog. :rolleyes:
