Hi, all. Just wanted to throw a post up here to announce the launch of a new, subscription-supported film development database: www.itsonthegrid.com.

Over the summer, my co-founders and I were discussing ways to collaborate on spec and OWA tracking. One brainstorm session led to another and before we knew it we were designing a website that would become a resource for more or less anyone whose livelihood revolves around film development: agents, managers, producers, executives, writers (professional as well as aspiring), directors, assistants to all of the above, and so on. We launched the beta version of the site a couple of days ago, and we're starting to spread the word.

www.itsonthegrid.com is not supposed to replace your usual resources (donedealpro.com, IMDb, trackingb.com, etc.) -- it's a new thing, focused first and foremost on open writing and directing assignments, and its big differentiator is its search feature: The whole thing is built atop a really powerful platform that makes finding projects, people and companies in the system really easy. From here on out, we'll also be gathering data on new and updated projects in active development, specs as they hit the market and so on. We've already started to field calls and emails from agents, managers, producers and executives who want their projects in development to show up on the grid. We're pretty excited about the prospects for the site as we move forward.

When you have a minute, pop over and check it out. As you'll see from the signup page, you can try it for free with no obligation -- we won't charge your card until the day after you sign up, so if you decide it's not for you, no sweat, just shoot an email to customerservice@itsonthegrid.com (or to me personally at the address below) and your account will be deactivated.

For those of you who dig it and stick around, don't hesitate to make suggestions for improvements to the site. We particularly want to make it as useful and helpful to writers as possible, so let us know how we can adjust it to better serve you.

Thanks in advance for checking us out.
Best,
Jason

P.S. We'll be using the blog side of the site (blog.itsonthegrid.com) to tease you with updates to the database, and every post will hit Twitter, too. You can follow us here: http://twitter.com/itsonthegrid
