48. Hands down.
Love Lethal. Lethal is an all timer. But 48 is, for me, superior.

Both are very entertaining, but it's LETHAL WEAPON for me. I thought Riggs' dilemma and arc were more interesting. I'm pretty much through with the both of them, thanks to endless broadcasts on cable over last few decades.

This question makes my head explode...
But I like explosions, so that's a *good* thing.

Bill, you know it's 48!
Lethal has way too many 80's cornball moments where 2ndary actors are hamming it up. 48 still has a touch of that 70's vibe. It's gritty and real but the set-pieces are big. And the edge allows for humor that holds up much better.
And finally...
There is no scene in Lethal that matches the bar scene in 48.

Actually, if I was forced to pick one or I'd explode - it would be 48 HOURS. Though everything you say BDZ is a factor, the biggest one is - I love Annette O'Toole.

Caught both on TV recently.
Probably watch Lethal Weapon more just because it's on TV more!
But reckon 48 Hrs is the better fillum.
BTW, where's the Die Hard option?
Lethal has way too many 80's cornball moments...
Saw LW4 last week for the first time in yonks.
Should've just made it a sitcom.
Horrible...

48HRS.
I think the chemistry between Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy is much better than Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in LETHAL WEAPON, but that's not to say I didn't like it also.
So, 48HRS by a whisker.

"There's a new sheriff in town... and his name is Reggie Hammond"
Classic line and I'd vote for 48 HOURS.
But lets not forget TRADING PLACES... "Look at that S car go"

I never did like the scene in Lethal Weapon where Mel puts the gun in his mouth - it just seemed like over-kill.
I went and read an earlier version of the screenplay not so long ago and it wasn't in the script!
Damn, the only part of a GREAT film which I didn't like and somebody else tossed it in there to pander a producer's notion...
48 Hours I've not seen for donkeys, but I don't remember it as being better.
