What do you do when your spec script is totally in sync one week, and then obsolete the next?

Do you keep changing it?

Or do you say, "Hey, this is an example of my work, and even though it doesn't jibe with the show NOW, it's still sort of current..."

Advice?

You're probably okay. Know why? The people who will be reading your spec (agents, executives, writers on other shows) are too busy to keep up the minor details of every show. So as long as your spec doesn't have any glaring errors in it (such as an NYPD Blue spec that still has David Caruso's character), and is in tune with the show as of the current season, you should be okay.

Thanks.

I've written an Alias spec, and the mythology is evolving so fast from one week to the next it's hard to keep up..

Andygall,

You'll never be able to keep up, because the show which will air next week, was shot 4-6 weeks ago, not to mention that the scripts for the remainder of the season have been, or are in the process of being, written. Depending on the ratings for a series, the show may have already been picked up for another year, which means there are scripts already in the works for next season. So stick with what you've got.
