Does anyone register shorts? Is this something I should do or should I just not worry about it?

Are you making it yourself?

It's twenty five bucks and you've come this far. Pay the money. However I'd get a copyright, not a WGA registration.

Why would you get a copyright instead of a WGA registration?

Boy, I never even thought of registering or copyrighting a short, especially one we'd be making. We do put the year in Roman numerals at the end of the credits, which should tell the world, "This is who made this, and when." That's what I figure, anyway.

It offers better protection. WGA registration is good for only 5 years. Even within that timeframe, it's so-so in a courtroom where your lawyer may not be as good as theirs.

Nothing beats a US certified Copyright (and it's roughly the same fee). The thing is ironclad.
