View Full Version : Query Blitz -- Seasonal Factors?

can anyone comment on seasonal factors affecting the best time to query/call prodcos, agents, etc. with a finished suspense thriller spec script?

i expect to go into full blitz mode around the middle of December for a week or so, but i'm wondering if that's bad timing from the prodcos' POV, with the holidays just behind. does everything go into slo mo in Hollywood at that time, and would queries be even more likely to get lost, phone calls to get ignored, etc?

IOW, would i be better waiting until after Jan. 1 to start the carpet bombing? or do they like to get the spec scripts lined up before Jan. 1 so they can hit the new year running?

Tnx for any insider wisdom.

Wait at least till January 3rd. Offices tend to slow down sharply around December 20th, and shut down for the holidays a few days later. Execs, managers and agents will be back on the 3rd. Give 'em a day or two to recover, and then send your queries.

Good luck!:)
