View Full Version : Is it cool to send your script without a release form?

This has never sat right with me. We've all seen the postings, "Production company seeking scripts, any genre, any budget, blah, blah, blah....send your script to such and such address"

Now if the person doesn't say you must sign a release form are they unprofessional or a fluke waiting to steal someone's material? I need some opinion's from other writers on what you all do when you see posting's like this. Do you trust sending your work out without a release form attached to it?

A release form protects THEM not you.

Thus if someone doesn't ask then don't worry about the legal issues. They are the ones that could run into issues later. But the Catch 22 of it all is, if they are not smart enough to ask you to sign a release form then you probably don't won't to work with them.
