As an unsold writer, is it easier to sell a completely original screenplay or an adaptation of prexisting material -- ex: videogame, cartoon, tv show, etc?

Oh, and why?

Thanks

Agreed - the thing that makes it easier is for it to be really really good.

It's easier to sell a well-written script with a great concept. Other than that, there is no secret.

This question is way too broad, it depends on the source material.

Realistically neither should be described as easy.

If the property in question is anywhere near high profile enough to justify a movie being made- chances are the copyright owner has already tried and/or succeeded in setting up the movie rights someplace.
