This is interesting to me. Would anyone who knows care to elaborate on how the licensing model is a fraction of the cost? I think the production value of Hannibal is top notch. Enjoying the series quite a bit.

From what I have gathered, it seems to be widely exported around Europe and Asia (probably due to the high marketability factor).

This is an assumption, but perhaps it is the money from these licensing agreements that majorly decreases the amount of money NBC has to put into the show.
