Re: Greenlit!!
By the way, this article is the first I've heard of the new title. It was called SOLO for the past eight years. Nobody ever tells the writer sh*t. But hey, it's not as bad as the studio changing the title of "The Haunting in Georgia" to "The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia" (which I only I found out when the poster arrived at my house).

Re: Greenlit!!
This thing was an odyssey, man.
2008- I write the script, and Gold Circle options it. They attach a director who takes it in a direction I'm really uncomfortable with (but I make the changes anyway). Project fizzles, option lapses.
2010 - Temple Hill steps in and takes a stab with the original script, attaching another director. Director departs for scheduling reasons, project fizzles.
2015 - Blumhouse options it but has trouble finding a director. I discover they're using the version I hate from the original director. I give them the better one, and within a week they find a new director (NOTE: that's a lesson to make sure you ALWAYS know what versions of your work people are reading). Everything looks like it's moving forward until the director departs to make another movie first. I suggest going back to the director Temple Hill found. They approach him and he's unavailable, but he gives it to Franck, who signs on to do it. He attaches cast. We then lose two key cast members - one to scheduling conflict, one to a fear of ISIS in the place we're shooting (Malaysia). Seriously, ISIS. Blumhouse recasts the role. Then it's all about awaiting a letter confirming this big tax credit that will make the movie hit their budget goal. Months go by and we wait... and wait. Suddenly the letter comes, and boom - green light, start date. Now I'm just praying some monsoon doesn't come along and f*ck everything up.
