Re: Atlas Entertainment

I'm a newbie both to DD and querying (I'm about to launch my first e-mail barrage from Brooklyn, NY), and I've seen these requests for prodcos' email addresses before.

Is this how these e-mail addys are found? Just ASK THE BOARDS? (I'm on HCD and IMDB, too, but e-mails are hard to come by).

If so, I'd love to have this one for ATLAS, too.

And any friendly advice on my querying strategy would be most welcome:

Focus on producers first, then managers, then ... maybe agents. Do first contacts via e-mail to specific people.

Oh, and hi everyone. Really glad to have found this forum. Seems like a great community! By way of introduction, I'm a former playwright/screenwriter morphing into a screenwriter/playwright. I'm on my third movie script, though I've written 6+ stage plays. Not the same thing, I know, but not entirely different ...

Re: Atlas Entertainment

JKB.
It's really pretty simple.
You write a sensational pitch/query/logline,
email it to either/or/all managers, agents,
execs, production companies and then wait
for the rejections to flood in. :-)
Best advice, make contacts in the Biz.
Contacts take you a lot further than cold
queries. Might be tough to do from crooklyn
but there is a NY film community.
As for where to get email addys, anywhere
you can. The internet is loaded with them.
You just have to look. Start a database.
Trade addys here and elsewhere.
It's considered good form NOT to put
good, active email addys in a regular post
for a variety of reasons which is why we
PM them.
Some good advice might be to hunt for
the email addys yourself before hitting the
board.
GOOGLE gives good results.
Good luck.
Cole
PS CHECK YOUR PM
PSS? Since you come from the theater, it
probably wouldn't hurt to think through everyone
you know in that business and see if any of them
have contacts in LALALAND.

Re: Atlas Entertainment

Hey Cole, this sounds just like playwriting! (I've got a fat rejection file to prove it) Thanks for the primer (and the PM tip).

I have been using "the Google," but can probably dig a little harder. Regardless, I hope to be judicious in my solicitations for help. And to return favors when I can.

And, yes, absolutely -- I'm already putting together a couple of databases (again, adapted from playwriting) and brainstorming who I already know that might be connections.

Many thanks, again. See you on the threads!
