Different managers for different projects?

If there's one manager interested in one project and another manager (different company) interested in another, is it cool (ethical, etc.) to have each represent the respective projects? In other...

Re: WGA questions

Hey there. A few more questions regarding the WGA:
1. What if a WGA writer (which I am) collaborates with a non-WGA writer and sells a spec screenplay? Would the WGA minimum apply and then the...

Turnaround questions

I know this is a very broad question based on a ton of factors, but in general how often do screenplays in turnaround get picked up again? In my case, I'm talking a lower budget (million to two)...

I'm brand new to the WGA and will call them later today, but would like to see if anyone here can answer a few questions now:
1. With regard to packaging, what if a small management company wants to...

On the topic of WGA rules, I'm brand new to the WGA and will call them later today, but would like to see if anyone here can answer a few questions now:

Stage 32 contests

I just saw that Stage 32 announced a new contest where they're partnering with National Lampoon. I've always been a bit skeptical about Stage 32 contests, but this one intrigues me. I know this one...

Re: Exporting screenplays from MMS to Final Draft 10

Thanks for all your help. I actually figured it out on my own right after I posted the request here. The mistake I made is that I was looking at my MMS to export -- but then I found how to import...

Exporting screenplays from MMS to Final Draft 10

Hi there. A producer just asked me to purchase Final Draft to be compatible with his company. I've worked on Movie Magic for years and am not very tech savvy, so could someone here kindly give me...

Re: Screenplays, screenplay elements, screenplay competitions and copyright rights.

Been there, tried that. The first thing any lawyer would want to know is if you can prove a direct link between your submission and the producer. And even if there was a direct link, you'd then...

Re: Car sequences/scenes

Thanks so much, TigerFang. Exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Are you a director or DP? Just curious. You really know your stuff!

Car sequences/scenes

This is really more of a production question, but it may also be helpful to writers thinking of setting scenes in vehicles. I'm producing one of my own shorts and there's a long sequence inside a car...

Re: Beware: Buffalo 8

Interesting thing is that this company has some decent credits -- and I thought they used to have a good reputation.

The guy I spoke to started preaching to me how many scripts hit the studios and...

Beware: Buffalo 8

I was querying some indie producers on a low budget screenplay. Came across one called Buffalo 8. A guy from there emails me back and says he'd love to set up a phone call (this morning). Mind...

Re: Shorts

Shorts are really intended to be more of a showcase (for the director, talent, etc.) than as something producers "specialize" in. Yes, many producers make shorts, but their eye is usually on using...

Re: Querying Shorts

Inktip and simplyscripts.com both offer free postings of short scripts. I've had success with both, more so with Inktip. Lots of shorts are produced via scripts found on their site.

Screenwriting on typewriters...

I was watching TRUMBO last night and it made me think how hard it was for those writers in that era (actually until the 80's or so) to knock out their screenplays with typewriters. I started writing...

Re: Ghostbusters Trailer

Another example of how a studio would rather go with a brand than something original -- and make a big mistake by doing so. Fans of the original have little interest in seeing a remake and the...
