Re: Stephen King "On Writing" -- no plot

I remember reading that thread, and I'm more confused about why either of you thinks the other is wrong. It's just different approaches to the same thing.

I see everything pretty much as...

Re: Stephen King "On Writing" -- no plot

Very true. Everyone needs to find their own voice, but in using that voice to speak to others, one must mind the language.

Re: Stephen King "On Writing" -- no plot

Someone here has a quote in their signature that says something with this gist: "Don't copy the bad habits of a successful writer." Stephen could probably wet fart on a piece of paper and sell the...

Re: Are there any television commercial competitions out there?

Unfortunately this year was the last year for that contest. (SOURCE (http://admeter.usatoday.com/2016/01/11/one-of-these-three-doritos-ads-will-air-during-super-bowl-50/)).

I suggest paying...

Re: What's holding you back?

Oh man this is going to be good.

I'll cheat and break this into external and internal.

Knowledge is what's holding me back internally. I get so little feedback that I don't even know if I'm good,...

Re: Cold Opens

That.

The office uses them wonderfully often to set the story/tone up, and I also enjoy if it ties in with the ending, SPECIALLY if I don't see it coming.

I've used cold openings in all three of...

Re: Stephen King "On Writing" -- no plot

1,000 pages to play with frees you up from a lot of things. You would not approach a haiku with the same "let's see what happens" ideal as Stephen would a novel, they are different...

Re: Narration in a scene. Do you still need to describe what is narrated?

It's for an intro scene, where the main character poses a riddle... So it starts as if he were talking directly to you... "Imagine this... You're in an empty room..."

I'll try Goldbergs, as I don't...

Narration in a scene. Do you still need to describe what is narrated?

Working on a new sitcom, where the main character also narrates.

Obviously its been done, but I can't think of any scripts to look up, and while searching I couldn't come up with the right way to...

Re: Reader's comment

I'll +1 and also bring this up.

I did a short script once (for a contest in these forums actually), where one character was Russian and had a heavy accent. For that character I actually would spell...

Re: Arrival

We live among other species and we can't talk to them. If anything they learn to understand us. We don't bark at dogs to talk an convey a message, and even while we live with dogs and cats we...

Re: Cried, bled, and went to jail to make this episode.

The sound kills me every time I get home from a shoot. And it is exactly what you said, budget. Since I ran out of budget I literally had to get one of the actors to be the sound guy. No...

Re: Reader's comment

I agree with the post above, if he is really in pain and can only muster a couple of words, then "Call... ambulance" OR just "Ambulance" as a reply work fine.

However, if he is in pain, but can...

You are 100% correct, producing is NOT for me, but I have to do whatever I have to do, to make things happen. The gun situation was my fault, you are also correct there. But I'm a bit confused... ...

Cried, bled, and went to jail to make this episode. Some motivation if you need it.

It's a good read, you'll be rewarded at the end. Stick with me here. :mpopcorn:

As some of you know, since the start of the year I've been trying to pitch my comedy series "We're going to be...

Re: I filmed my TV show. Check it out! Lol.

Thank you for those words. I have a proposal for this, which states the whole cast is fully bilingual (should whoever picks it up wish to continue with the cast), so it can be recorded in either or...

Re: I filmed my TV show. Check it out! Lol.

Episode 3 is literally killing me. But I also think it's going to be the best episode.

OK so, the first episode my friends all volunteered and one of the actors paid for the food/beverages, and I...

Re: Hot Tubs And Time Machines (deadline: Sept 15)

That is very crazy to think about... However I can't lie, when I write now-a-days with pen/pencil it feels a bit awkward....

It's like focusing on blinking or breathing, and how often to do...
