FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, PART TWO...

And now for the best comedies and best written comedic episodes of the past year:

For your consideration (dramas)...

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION...

With less than a week to go in the Emmy nominating season, now's a good time to weigh in on the best dramas and best written dramatic episodes of the past...

Re: Using BOLD in spec scripts

Dude, try not to be so sensitive: "slammers" doesn't refer to "slamming" other posters, it's simply an alternative term for exclamation marks (hence the "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"):...

Re: Acts in Comedy Scripts? How many? Necessary?

Multicams are often just two acts.

Single cams are usually three acts, though live-action Fox sitcoms are typically four shorter acts.

But the main thing to keep in mind is that, if you decide to...

Re: Advice needed on TV pilot

Your instinct is correct-- 45 pages is way too short.

Most hourlong pilots these days are 60+ pages, so I would say 54 pages or so is a reasonable minimum length to shoot for.

Last spring, the...

Re: Luke Cage (Spoiler Free)

Colter was great on The Good Wife.

I think the problem is Luke Cage is just not a very good solo character-- in the comics, he's much more interesting when he's paired with Iron Fist, or married to...

Re: Austin notification timeline

It's a sign you're on the right track, but no, it's not really a big deal.

Especially with a spec, which has almost no utility to potential reps.

That was correct a couple of years ago, but this...

Re: Best TV Series + Episodes of past season

Yeah, Rectify is pretty terrific-- it didn't make my Top 12 this year because I felt it focused a little too much on the investigation, but still it had some great moments.

The only one of these...

Best TV Series + Episodes of past season

Since the Emmys are this weekend, I thought it would be a good time to list my favorite shows of the 2015-2016 television season -- which btw basically spans from June 1, 2016 to May 30, 2016, so a...

Re: Austin notification timeline

And I know of two writers who got the semis call today, so that's at least one more.

Also, @austinfilmfest just tweeted this today:

"We're still rolling out notifications over the next few days....

Re: Austin notification timeline

That's right-- I think they announce the finalists (which for comedy and drama pilots, I think is Top 5 instead of Top 10) around the end of the month.

Pretty sure this is right for the initial...

I still haven't heard about any of my entries.

However, I do know that two semifinalists were notified last night, and another semifinalist was called today, so there's still hope...

Re: Austin notification timeline

Here's my theory:

(1) Most of the "pass" notices went out first-- since they required the least number of reviews, they would be more likely to be already determined by Sep. 1.

(2) I suspect 2nd...

Actually, I know of a semifinalist (for comedy screenplay) who just got called about an hour ago, so there's still hope for those of us who haven't heard yet...

Eh, the first four episodes had some nice moments, but the second half of the season was pretty underwhelming.

I think it would have worked a lot better as a movie-- there just wasn't enough...

Totally agree-- I loved that moment.

And from a screenwriting standpoint, I particularly appreciated how the writers used earlier scenes involving both Marthas that seemed so familiar (because of...

I love the show, which has aired two seasons on FXX, and has been renewed for Season 3 (which will probably air early next year).

Re: Length of Series?

Season lengths vary for each of those three options, but I would say the most common/expected season lengths are:

Network TV = 22 episodes
Cable TV = 13 episodes
Streaming = 10 episodes

And if the...
