Re: How to become a Manager for screenwriters?

Robert,

Not to belittle you at all, but you just said you accomplished in 2 months what my assistant could accomplish in a day. That is the difference I am talking about between being connected in...

Re: How to become a Manager for screenwriters?

I'm sorry, but this is just crazy.

Robert, I remember when you sent me query letters on email and twitter, and now YOU want to manage writers? With almost no connections? It takes YEARS to build up...

Re: Question for Michaelb (clients productivity)

Honestly, both are tremendously hard. And TV is harder than it ever has been with established feature writers going there to create, or even just work.

It's not about writing for film or TV, it's...

Scott (a buddy of mine) is sitting in my office right now. I read him this thread. He's now going home to get caught up on his reading of query scripts. You're all welcome.

Re: Question for Michaelb (clients productivity)

Logline only for me (usually). Far too often writers will say "such and such IMDB producer likes my script". The reality is that they are most often siting someone that is wayyy off the grid and...

Re: What day of the week to Query?

Not on the weekend. Just because we have smart phones for time sensitive business that deliver emails on the weekend, you don't want to invasive interrupt peoples weekends.

Re: Manager relationship question

It was an analogy. You missed the point of it.

Geoff is correct. It was reffering to material. Though, he is also correct, liking a client as a person is also important.

To reply to what you...

As a young writer, you have to write original pilots. That's how your foot in the business. Original spec pilots from new writers sell every season.

Re: Manager relationship question

And like it has been stated, this person...

Re: Question for Michaelb (clients productivity)

I'd stop now and not try again until January 7th. I won't even be looking at queries until then and probably just delete them on sight if they interrupted my vacation (when we are all recharging for...

It all has to do with the concept. The character needs to fit that concept and fit it well.

Re: Follow-up etiquette/advice

Because it is most likely a pass. And if you follow up and go behind the others back, you run the risk of souring the relationship with the person who sent it to them. Plus, if someone refereed a...

Re: Question for Michaelb (clients productivity)

Re: Question for Michaelb (clients productivity)

Really just depends on the script. If it went out wide, and it's not the script you are signing with new reps on, it most likely will be used in select cases. It's not often that reps retake out wide...
