Re: TrackingB vs Tracking Board Launch Pad

Thanks! Yes, good luck to us all!

I have no idea about the average success of contest entries in screenwriting -- doubt any numbers have been crunched, and it would probably be a waste of time due...

Re: TrackingB vs Tracking Board Launch Pad

I only entered it in one other contest, Nicholl (where it made the Top 15%). Just thought its chances were limited due to it being a period drama. I plan to enter it in a few new places this year...

No problem, glad it's useful. Congrats, and good luck!

Re: Logistics of Manager Meetings

Oh, it's not for an actual meeting, it's for research for a script, haha

Re: TrackingB vs Tracking Board Launch Pad

I made the Top 50 of LPFC last year. After the winners were announced (June), the Top 100 finalists were told that a booklet was sent out to its network of reps/producers. Then after that we heard...

Re: Logistics of Manager Meetings

Thanks, Will! This is extremely helpful info. that would be difficult for me to get elsewhere. I should clarify that it's not in preparation for a real-life meeting, but rather research for a...

Logistics of Manager Meetings

Hi everyone, hope all is well! I'm looking for some insight from people who've attended in-person meetings with managers at the buildings they work in (where their company is located). I'd like to...

Re: Franklin Leonard

I don't think most screenwriters are attractive enough for this to be a viable alternative. That's for actors.

Because at the end of the day, it's a more fun career to wake up to than the vast...

Re: Franklin Leonard

Yeah. No way I'm paying $30 a month for so little return.

Re: Franklin Leonard

Bono, I don't host scripts on the site permanently. When I complete a script (and have had it evaluated by a few trusted people), I put it up on the site, buy two evaluations, and host it for a...

Re: Franklin Leonard

It's not that I think you can't offer your opinion. It's that I think that you are less likely to understand what BL customers perceive as its benefits unless you have.

I still think you don't...

Re: Franklin Leonard

I reread your statements, and now I see that I indeed mischaracterized your words. My mistake.

Re: Franklin Leonard

Haha, Bono, funny analogy. But I'm not sure it's the best one. When you have a girlfriend, she's the only one you're dating (well, unless you're the leader of a cult).

As I've said before, the...

Re: Franklin Leonard

Art is subjective, but there must be some kind of objective standard applied when you are charging people to evaluate it. Otherwise it's hard to take a service seriously.

All I'm asking is for a...

Re: Franklin Leonard

Sure, the realities of Hollywood don't make sense. But again, this is not trying to pitch your script to different companies, which is a free activity. This is a paid service, meaning it should be...

Re: Franklin Leonard

I think that Franklin genuinely cares about helping screenwriters. I think that he genuinely thinks that his service can be used to help screenwriters.

I think those things, but you know what I...

Re: Franklin Leonard

The problem is that's just an assumption you're making. We have no idea if this is how the BL approaches scoring because it has never provided an explanation other than "it's how the reader feels...

Re: Franklin Leonard

I remember that 4% figure, and I thought it sounded unrealistically low back then. Are we really supposed to believe that with thousands of submissions and with no specific criteria attached to the...

Re: Franklin Leonard

I'm not sure why you keep going back to the topic of success rate. I said that my main concern is not how many successes there are, but how fundamental aspects of the system are run.

It doesn't...

Is one of them Roy Lee? He read one of my scripts through a query, too.

Sure, and I'm happy for her. And I'm sure you could pull out several other examples. But as I said, identifying high-profile examples of success doesn't negate inherent flaws in the system and lack...

Really looking forward to seeing this, too.

I'm just laughing thinking about how many modern-day Nazis and their fellow white supremacists gave the trailer downvotes. "How dare they show such...

Re: Franklin Leonard

I've been saying this for years on here. Any grading system worth its salt has some kind of tangible criteria attached -- whether it's a school paper, a screenwriting contest, or an online service...
