Re: Stage 32?

I just signed up with them tonight. Hopefully just to meet and talk to some people. Maybe make some connections with people. The chances I'll actually pay for anything is slim.

I'll hang out there...

Re: Funny, violent AND philosophical

Carnivale was excellent, but many were disappointed with how it ended. Even I was sort of disappointed that there were so many questions unanswered. Otherwise, it was a great show!!

Re: Fan films and short films based on IP you haven't the rights to

Quick question. Could one write something like a Star Wars film as a spec script? Something that they would never profit from but is part of a work portfolio?

Re: Funny, violent AND philosophical

If you're looking for TV, Rome was good. It's one of HBO's least rapey shows, or at least thus far it is. I only just started season 2

As for films, Bunraku is interesting and fun. I enjoyed it

Smile Startup

Originally on Crackle, I just loved the show Startup. It has a great tech premise about a young Hispanic woman who creates a new crypto currency. While trying to get money to finance a tech company...

Re: I wrote my first script, now what?

That's very true. The old saying of you have to spend money to make money certainly applies. It does in publishing as well. Recently had to pay $250 for editing and am looking for a cover artist...

Re: Black Mirror

Hm...I have not heard of that show before. Sounds a bit like The Outer Limits or The Twilight Zone. It looks like the writers are basically Charlie Brooker and then a bunch of one timers on each...

Re: Scott Carr Management SGC

"Good" can be a subjective term. What's good to one person isn't necessarily good to someone else.

Re: Scott Carr Management SGC

Neither the writer nor the manager would be responsible for the film being bad. The only way anyone could blame the writer is if it's a bad script to begin with; and no agent or manager would send...

Re: Scott Carr Management SGC

I'm confused. I mean, it seems like the guy went from taking quires and requesting scripts to asking for money for what would appear to be coverage.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's...

Re: Adaptations you would like to write

For me, it would be Suikoden. I love that RPG series.

Re: The Orville

I'm a Star Trek fan as well. I will say that Next Gen is still my favorite. As for acting, you can almost never go wrong with Michelle Yeoh. She's been doing this action stuff for forty years or so....

Re: The Orville

I very much enjoyed The Orville. It's funny, quirky, and a little different.

If anything, it reminds me of Star Trek Next Gen. Some of the episodes seem rather similar, but it's still a good show....

Question Questions about spec scripts

Hello. New arrival and I was just wondering if you could cue me in on a couple of things. I said in another post that I would love to be part of a writer's room experience. That is very much the...

Re: Need help choosing new series to watch

Hm...
If it's there, Galavant, the fanatsy musical show, was kind of cute.
The Last Kingdom and Poldark if you like historical and period TV.

Re: HBO vs. Amazon - Alt-History Dramas

Hm...I don't know that it's censorship so much as people just want it to be treated with respect. It's an aspect of US history that some people still don't. But that doesn't mean it can't be...

Re: Zero interest in joinging the writers' room... just want to sell spec pilots

Personally, I'd love the chance to be part of the writer's room, merely for the experience. It's probably because I'm a noob and am looking for a bit of a jumping off point, and feature writing...

Re: Sci-Fi market saturated?

I'll have to agree with that EvilRbt. Virus stories have been done, however, what you don't see much of is hard sci-fi. Space fantasy and cyberpunk is a bit more lacking than the virus stories. Then...
