Re: Boyka: Undisputed

For awhile Jesse V. Johnson was attached to direct an Action/Thriller of mine. Would have been his first real foray into non-Scott Adkins, bigger budgeted films. Shame it didn't work out as I think...

Re: Not responding back after reading script

**** that, did your attorney chase them?

Sure, usually (I'm not going to give an exact percentage, but I get your point), that is the case. But this business is so ****ing hard and sisyphean that...

Re: Attachments to project

Usually you don't bring a Showrunner on (unless the opportunity falls in your lap), because the studio you bring it to has a list that they like.

Re: Not responding back after reading script

Absolutely, you're entitled to your opinion and opinions are often based on anecdotal experience. I simply wanted to be clear on my stance being different, because candidly, whether intentional or...

Re: Not responding back after reading script

Yes, that's what I'm saying. I'm not sure why that's so incredulous to you. Happens all the time. They lose scripts, forget they received it, fired the last assistant/intern who was covering it,...

Re: Not responding back after reading script

Yes. And one of those people (just checked, 8 follow-ups), thanked me, said they lost the script, asked me to re-send. Ended up getting a general there and later optioned a different script to them.

Re: Not responding back after reading script

I get the mentality on this, but respectfully disagree. As we both know, most of these guys are so ****ing busy that **** gets forgotten or lost in the shuffle. I'll follow-up every 3-5 weeks or so...

Re: Brandon Blake, www.filmtvlaw.com

My experience has been same as yours, manfred. I'm sure there are some attorneys who will do 5% for a non-established client, but yes, it is rare. Unless they are coming onboard through a high-rank...

Re: Knives Out

Solid movie. Great cast, fun and enjoyable. The killer was way too obvious (knew it 20 minutes in). Also, don't really get people saying Ana de Armas was great. She was easily the worst part of...

Re: New York Is Better Than LA

Yes, really. It's just a fact. New York has the highest population density in the country (S.F. is second). Its population density is 3 times higher than L.A. (26K people per sq. mile to 8K). Of...

Re: New York Is Better Than LA

Strongly disagree. New York is even more crowded than L.A. with more people and less space.

Re: Doing well in too many contests is a red flag for reps?

As someone who was briefly (thank God it was so brief) with JW, I can tell you he is a condescending prick. There's no magical formula. Some people break-in on their first script, some their 40th. ...

Re: Entertainment Lawyer Recommendations

Yeah, you should never, ever do a free option. Free shopping agreements are fine. I'm a professional writer and I still do shopping agreements. Often times they are in fact better than even low...

Re: Entertainment Lawyer Recommendations

If it's a free option, there is no reputable Ent. Attorney who will handle it for 5%. You'll have to pay them a fee, which will most likely not be worth it. PM me the name of the company if you'd...

Re: Sidejobs for a freelance writer

Before I could afford to write full-time, I used to do a bit of freelance copywriting for video games (through ad agencies). Even worked at one for two months. Great perks. Free lunch, stocked...

Re: Avengers End Game

It was okay. INFINITY WAR was the only Avengers movie I liked because it was actually dark, had stakes, the characters weren't impervious, and Thanos is a great, layered villain. ENDGAME was...

Re: If your manager doesn't like a particular script...

I candidly told them I'm going to push material I believe in and if that's an issue, we should part ways. We parted ways about a month later.
