Tangerine

Finally checked out this indie darling. Acclaimed film. Sucked. Apparently if you feature marginalized characters and shoot on an I-phone nothing else matters. Hard pass.

Re: TrackingB vs Tracking Board Launch Pad

I was Top 50 in the LP a couple years back. I didn't get anything much out of that but I do appreciate the way it's run and entered this year, but did not make the cut. As with most any contest...

Re: Uncut Gems

I dunno. Maybe so, but IMO tragedy implies a sense of pity or sorrow or what "might have been," but for me I felt nothing. His character is not only (self) destructive, but also I would argue a...

Re: Uncut Gems

Finally got to see this. I give it very high marks for its frenetic pacing and intensity from start to finish, and Sandler deserves every bit of the praise he's received for his performance. ...

Re: This Violates Screenplay Format -- SHOWING

There's nothing wrong with your examples, so I'd attribute it to the subjectivity of the reader or readers and move on. Same can be said of the poster who deems your work "a boring read" based on a...

Re: Steven Nossokoff - Untitled Entertainment Contact

Err, United Talent is not Untitled Entertainment. Also, a Google search can get you what you need.

Re: Parasite

I liked it quite a lot. Entertaining from start to finish, and I love that it defies genre compartmentalization. It's funny, it's thrilling and suspenseful, and its dramatic, all in one.

Re: Amazon Prime Direct

I do, but mine, THE TOUCHSTONE, is managed through a distributor so I am not privy to their experience, only my own as creator. They seem to pay promptly and obviously have a huge reach. Like any...

Re: Advice needed from repped writers (spec related situation)

Unless it's the remake of LOGAN'S RUN. Haha.

Re: A Note about Notes

I had no intention to single you out on this, Bono -- as you say, they were just words that came to mind for you. I think all your comments in this thread are actually very good and constructive. ...

Re: A Note about Notes

May be "just me," but the term "brutally honest" is like some echo chamber phrase that I've come across a zillion times in both requests for feedback from others and characterizations of feedback...

Re: Release form - standard or concerning?

You just have to hold your nose and sign unless you think they seem shady.

As a writer trying to break in, your job is to get read, not create obstacles to your success.

Re: Horror Movies

I'm not much of a fan, but I too would count the original HALLOWEEN as the best of the best.

Not a fan, yet I seem to have written 4 horror features and a horror comedy over the years, since I too...

Re: Web Series

I wrote the first three episodes of a fictional web series about American hikikomori with the intent of submitting to the New York Television Festival this year, and lo and behold they didn't have...

Re: GUN CRAZY on Scriptshadow Right Now

Thanks guys. I got beat out by higher concept stuff anyway.

Re: For you older folk (me)

I wrote my first feature spec in 1992. Maybe this latest one I just started will be my golden ticket. (Sigh).

Re: Should we all be writing books instead?

I agree one does not preclude the other. You're a writer, I don't think it matters much what the medium is, you're probably going to feel the urge to write something, so what's wrong with a novel? ...

Re: Nicholl 2019 Results

Top 20%. Glad I didn't get my hopes up after so many years of not making the cut except I think two times in the Quarters years ago. Onward.

Re: Synopsis -- Producer to Financiers

Seems pretty straightforward to me. It's just an encapsulation of the major plot points of the story, in the order it happens. Basically this is part of what coverage entails, so the party can read...

Re: How Tone and Voice = Writer's Style (attitude and personality)

I've read BALLS OUT back in the day and sure it's good.

The example actually seem to be confirming the OP's hypothesis, which is that the way it's written helps it stand out and heightens the...
