Re: Horror title help

There's a trend in short one-word titles lately:

Blacklist - Cassian Elwes Screenwriting Fellowship

This sounds like an opportune fellowship to apply for. I've heard Mr. Elwes speak on panels and read his interviews during his time heading William Morris.

Does anyone have any experience with it?

Re: Nicholl 2019

I get where you're coming from and I'm with you there. It'd be great to find a writer who has amazing execution on an amazing concept. But if Nicholl (or any competition/fellowship) held their...

Re: Nicholl 2019

I remember reading somewhere that the Nicholl's mission isn't necessarily to find great writing, but to find great writers (who can potentially be groomed into writing those bigger franchise tent...

Re: Pilot Development

I second this suggestion, especially if you're trying to get staffed onto a show - instead, write an original pitch perfect authentic pilot that blows their socks off. The reason is this: just...

Re: Anybody Know Any Agents or Managers Open to Acquiring New Clients?

I would preface this by asking if you are sure your material is up to par? It would be disastrous if you are able to move mountains to get an agent/manager to read your material, only to find out it...

Re: Franklin Leonard

Yes, it's true that professional script readers have duties that go beyond just a casual reader. But the point I'm making is that the "response" part of their job is 95% of the time accurate. It's...

Re: Franklin Leonard

There's much truth to this. A reader simply reads scripts, the way any of us read a book or blog post - if it's engaging us on all levels, the script will get good coverage. It's when a script isn't...

Re: Loving your character too much

Making something that is powerful and meaningful to you also matter to the reader in the same way is a tough skill.

When I did consults with writer friends, instead of giving feedback on their...

Re: Loving your character too much

Gotcha, this helps a lot. This is just a suggestion so take it for what it is:

1) You have a character that you have a deep intuitive connection with. The character is a real person to you; and you...

Re: Loving your character too much

I suspect the reason for the confusion is that the OP is attached to this character because they "discovered" the character in their writing, so to them, the character is a real person. This approach...

Re: Loving your character too much

The OP needs their main character to murder someone. But the OP doesn't want to write it because they don't want to see their character do that. The real question first is why: (1) Because the OP...

Re: Loving your character too much

A great piece of advice I received regarding a similar dilemma:

There are writers who write what the character would organically do and their characters are authentic but don't make for the...

Re: Universal writers program

It also states that a screen treatment is required, but must not be based on the submitted screenplay. Does that mean it's asking for a screen treatment for a different script?

Re: Short film script contests

Scriptapalooza, I believe, has a short script competition as well; and shares the same April 15 deadline as PAGE. You can try looking on the moviebytes.com database for a comprehensive list.

7 Days at Entebbe

The reviews are very polarizing for this film. It's generally either 1/2 stars or 4.5-5, though more the former than latter.

I noticed that with the low star ratings, most revolved around...

Re: So Iíve Created A Free Script Hosting Website; Script Revolution
