Re: Our view of a field mouse

Similar scene in "Ratatoullie" but that movie already established the rat as the protagonist.

I might consider:
A MOUSE - We follow him as he runs right to left. A KNIFE slams down behind him, just...

Re: Fade In Pro -- tips, feedback, requested features

This was what I tried. The tabs are gone, which is fine, but it added a space and a half gap between Sluglines and action lines, as well as "(continued)" at the bottom of every page.
Not a big deal,...

Re: Fade In Pro -- tips, feedback, requested features

I'm coming into this a bit late, but what is the best way to import Screenplays originally written in Word. I get that there will be a lot of formatting clean-up. Just trying to minimize it...

Re: How would you handle info on a screen.

Just an odd thought: This is the future, why still use monitors? You could have the stuff being projected into the air in front of Aidan. Projected in red means an emergency. Then he can glance...

Re: What to use for iPad?

Funny, I read both of those before coming here. They make some compelling arguments.

What to use for iPad?

I've been using Word for all my screenplays since I could just tote them around on a thumb drive and work on them wherever. I have an older version of Final Draft on a desktop, but I've never used...

Re: Good god - how epic???

Having read through this how about this?

You both make good points and you disagree with each other.

Can we leave this as the last word and move on to how awesome Godzilla is going to be?

Re: Working on spec?

You know my lack of experience but I'd look at it like this.
If you don't have anything else going (although I imagine you do), then why not stab at it? Nothing else, you have another sample and...

Re: Good god - how epic???

As much as I love Cranston, I'm worried they're going to pull a "Hulk" and spend the first thirty minutes with talkie-talkie.
I don't watch Godzilla to hear people discuss where it came from or how...

Re: Worst Film Ever to Win the Best Picture Oscar

Good point on Cruise. I think I went into it with a shoulder chip about him. This was the first time I'd really been impressed. It was still a bit of a take on his usual roles at the time, IMO.

Re: Worst Film Ever to Win the Best Picture Oscar

I would say "Rainman". It was boosted by Dustin Hoffman's performance but nothing else about it impressed me (relative term here, it's a great movie), compared to the truly great movies that have...

Re: Spreading erroneous screenwriting myths

Hey Craig or Jeff,
Do you know, or can you give details on how J&J was pitched/developed? I haven't seen the movie so I can't comment on quality but I feel like there are things that can occur in...

Re: Writers and depression

I've spent the better part of my life dealing with depression on some level.

My writing still sucks.

Re: Movies that take place in two different time...

Best I can think of is "Joy Luck Club". I feel like the older generation scenes weren't necessarily flashbacks but separate scenes.

Re: Blacklist Secret Shopping Experience

Hey Jeff,
If I might ask, was the %50 off replacement review offered automatically or did you question the scores with customer service and that lead to them offering?
Thanks

Re: How to hide clues in open view?

I would keep in mind that you are blueprinting. When a director is going through the screenplay to shoot, he probably wants the details pointed out so they know what to shoot and plan accordingly. ...

Re: Rewrites - how do you stay fresh?

My main issue with rewrites is that I already gave my best and bled onto the page, you're telling me that wasn't good enough?. Then I follow it up with some cursing and pouting.

Then I go back and,...

Re: My drama is 85 pages.. too little?

I posted my 89 page drama on BL and the reader said, "this is the rare case where more pages would have been better" since I needed more character development.
I would say, you now have it in your...

Re: Silent characters who speak at a critical point in the story

The one that still pisses me off is "F--- me, they made it." by Christian Slater in "Robin Hood". Takes me out of the movie every time...you know, moreso than Costner's accent.

As to the silent...
