Re: A good script vs. a sellable script

One of the weirdest guys I've ever met.

Re: A good script vs. a sellable script

So you're out wrangling... cats, and you (may) end up with a movie deal. Sounds kinda like a reboot of Shampoo.

Re: Lawyer fees

In the news recently, BP is taking it in the shorts because of wording in a Gulf oil spill agreement that it signed - after who knows how many in-house and outside counsel reviewed it. Taking it so...

Re: New Launch Pad/Tracking Board thread

Just one guy's experience, but I've found in Hollywood it's best to send e-mails from a gmail account. Seems they can have very aggressive spam filtering. Some seem to even use a white-list system...

Re: New Black List Thread - Franklin Leonard answers your questions

He's rejected that very good and reasonable request 1000 times. But maybe request 1001 is the charm.

BTW, Franklin hasn't posted in this thread since March, so (for whatever reasons) he may have...

Depicting electrons (and stuff like that)

In the past 2 weeks I've seen Blackhat and Interstellar. Blackhat starts with a depiction of electrons (data packets) moving through a network.

(MINI-SPOLIER ALERT) Interstellar ends with...

Re: I'm Writing a Radio Series

This is so cool. I love radio theater. Congrats, and kill it.

Re: Legal Q on screenplay based on nonfiction book(s)

The way you've presented it, it seems to me you do need the rights for each book.

Books about history often take well-known sets of facts and then tell a true story based on some thesis of the...

Re: Jurisdiction question

There are often lots more variables here, and it can depend of the state where this is happened. For example, you can have country prosecutors, while within that county you have different...

Re: Scene headings

OP, I think Jon Jay's examples are good. The small thing he does that helps, versus your examples, is he uses one line of action under the full slugline (scene heading) before starting the...

A few things. First, you should take a look here for how to post script pages: http://messageboard.donedealpro.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=7 so that they look like script pages. Yes, even just...

Re: Spy

It worked well. I liked it.

(beat)

I do think if the protagonist had been a guy, the reviews would not have been forgiving about some things - such as there being scant foundation for her very...

Re: What would happen...

This is like asking where a 600lb gorilla would sit.

IOW, not a lot to go on in the question, plus DA could charge up to felony assault and attempted murder if something hit a cop.

Re: More % for Manager with Own Lawyer

Agreed. It's a little like someone offering to buy your house straight-up, "Saves you the 6% commission." But maybe the price you're offered is >6% below what a real estate agent would get you.

Re: The 24.9% at Black List read w/o an eval

At least at one time, IIRC, the Control Panel for pros had a look and some functions that the CP for writers did not have. But maybe that's been changed.

The 24.9% at Black List read w/o an eval

In another thread that was just closed, Franklin posted: "About 24.9% of the scripts that host without purchasing a single evaluation receive at least one industry professional download."

Question:...

ISO name of 60s British film - passenger in a taxi needs ús to pay his fare

I've seen a couple of recent posts of people trying to ID movies, so I thought I'd throw my question in, too.

It's a comedy made in the 60s (or maybe early 70s). As I recall it, a guy gets into a...

Re: What are some ways to describe good and poor writing

OK, so it wasn't just me. Maybe if the question had been set up as a quandary as to why some scripts just don't work, rather than as a quest for terms.

And thanks for the Feynman story.

Re: This jog anybody's memory?

I don't have the answer. But in case you can't ever find that film, I do think your description works really well.
