Re: Done Deal Pro 10th Anniversary & Subscription Drive

The price of the DDPro subscription is frankly a steal. A bargain of the century. I check the sales database daily, and plunge "searches" often weekly. It's honestly the most comprehensive database...

Re: Scripts at 2 Different Studios, Still No Rep

Re: Scripts at 2 Different Studios, Still No Rep

You should flat out ask what relationship you have - and evaluate it from there.

Re: Can You (Still) Sell A Movie Idea As Logline?

From what I've been told, this ship has passed and it's not possible anymore.

Re: Scripts at 2 Different Studios, Still No Rep

Is your script really into the Studio though, or a production company? If it's a studio, then that's pretty damn impressive (but also confusing somewhat/IMO). Either way, I would ask the...

Re: Advice on new management

If you have good relationships with those that you met (CAA/Amazon) then ask those development/producers who they recommend for management and ask if they can introduce you that way/refer you that...

Re: Contest results (so far) enough to persuade a manager to read my script?

Thanks for the follow up. Good luck with your project. I hope this post answers others burning question of "shall I wait... or strike now?" policy.

Re: How do you choose?

I start with the people I want to work with... then eventually I end up emailing people I dont want to work with. And then it's just in the hands of the writing Gods.

Re: Contest results (so far) enough to persuade a manager to read my script?

I have the feeling you can include the launch codes for nuclear weapons and some reps still wont read/open your email, so don't drive yourself nuts about the subject line. Querying is and will always...

Re: Contest results (so far) enough to persuade a manager to read my script?

I would add that the script is "currently..." in these contents and also delete "writer seeks manager" as it's obvious what is happening here...

Re: Contest results (so far) enough to persuade a manager to read my script?

I wrote to all the managers that *I* wanted to work with. So it was targeted to a sense. I would say Page is noticeable, but it's not up there with Nics, or Austin (IMO).

Re: Contest results (so far) enough to persuade a manager to read my script?

Just a quick note, when I was QF of the Nics, I queried and people read it. When I was a SF with the same script, people read it (even more quickly). I ended up getting two offers of representation...

Hi Michael,

Thanks once again for taking the time to answer questions here.

Re: Fargo: the series

Hot on the heels of TRUE DETECTIVE, FARGO for me was a great little magic pill to take to get me over the depression of TD going away.

Love TV right now. Wish they would do more high quality...

Re: Top Ten shows of past season

I'm terrible on watching TV shows, but TD and Fargo were my attention givers and I'm happy with that.

Re: My concept sold today

I would proceed as normal/like it didn't happen. Let your reps worry about whether it's worth worrying about.

Yeah, I would say it's 99% safe to say that after 48hrs your query is dead (IMO).

Re: True Detectives on HBO

I recently started re-watching the series and the opening credits are masterful. They literally SCREAM information at the audience/viewer and it just makes so much sense now.

Damn, even the creds...
