Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

Thanks for the links, TigerFang. Very interesting. But $500 to $900 a copy. Geeze.

I just put a hold on a copy to be sent to my branch of the L.A. library. Meanwhile anybody can read the book from...

Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

For example, a character within the story who narrates the story can have one voice while the screenwriter who writes the...

Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

Hey, Centos. Now I understand what you meant.

To expand on what you wrote, not only is voice a natural part of writing, we each have a natural voice that can be developed. We develop our voice...

Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

Centos, confidence and competence will allow you to develop your voice and to put your voice on the page, but imho confidence and competence are not voice.

Voice is the way you put words on the...

Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

I asked (voiced) a question. Was my question an opinion and did it have writer's voice? I don't think so.

Voice has more than one meaning.

Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

If you don't tell a story how will anyone hear/feel your voice? How else can you get your voice on the page?

Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

Funny you should ask that question, Brad. I was just going to post the following.:)

BrickFlare, this thread has talked a lot about things that inhibit your writer’s voice, but little about...

Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

Re: How important is voice in screenwriting?

I think a good “writer’s voice” is very important during the reading of the screenplay. A good voice helps the reader enjoy the read. But a good voice won’t overcome a poor...

Okay, I checked out the dvd from Redbox and just watched it.

Re: How to write...?

I wonder how the scene is actually presented on screen. Does the following happen?

Do we first see Elio sitting under the tree.

Then see him watching Perlman and Oliver through the open window...
