Re: Jeff Belkin/Zero Gravity info?

Just to chime in with more of the same. Jeff always seems to respond politely & promptly (within the hour) to me. Had 3 or 4 passes from him over the years.

I 'think' the only person I legitimately...

Re: "Bad" Movies You Love

Someone mentioned Hudson Hawk earlier, but how about the stone-cold Lehmann classic, Airheads.

Pair with Empire Records for the ultimate mid-90s alt rock double bill!

Re: Sci Fi Managers?

If you've got a DDP subscription, you can filter by sci-fi deals and see which managers were involved in the sales.

I did this recently - very useful for building up a more targeted list.

Re: What's a realistic batting average on queries?

Granted, I've only queried 4-5 scripts, but each time I've usually managed to gather around 120-150 'appropriate contacts' (i.e. work with writers in similar genres, produced films with a similar...

Re: The Screenplay Mechanic (EvilRbt)

Just to chime in... had some spot-on notes from Andrew recently. A nice guy to boot.

Re: Fortitude

I need a bone throwing my way in tonight's episode. Still enjoying it - setting and vast majority of the performances make it watchable - but the story needs to click into gear soon.

Re: Fortitude

I have this downloaded on my Skygo app ready to watch this week. Looks great, so hope it lives up to the hype.

90mins for the opening episode, yes?

Re: Re-writing methods

Great post FA4. I'm gonna cherry pick bits of this for something I'm rewriting now thankyouverymuch. (I think I do lots of these things already - but this breaks it down very succinctly).

Re: First 10 Pages Blue Book

Looks great Bill. Polishing up the intro to my latest script as we speak - so perfect timing to flick through.

Converted to £££ I literally feel like I'm stealing this! It costs less than my...

Re: Best Film of 2014

Nightcrawler. Absolutely incredible film in my opinion.

Also throughly enjoyed Edge of Tomorrow on the IMAX.

Few I need to catch up on though, including Calvary and Whiplash.

Re: Who/What are your favorite not-American contemporary filmmakers and films?

A big fan of anything Martin McDonagh makes.

Does Nolan count as non-American? I'm never sure.

Edgar Wright (Shaun & HF, not so much The World's End)
Greengrass (anything)
Ben Wheatley (Kill List)...

Re: 1 to 10 How important is the character intro

Totally. Hair colour is one of those things where, unless it's an absolutely fundamental aspect of the story, it's usually redundant.

You'll already be ahead of the pack if you steer away from (21,...

Re: Writer Emergency

Bought a pack yesterday - first time funding something on Kickstarter.

The Dark-theme pack looks very cool.

Re: Weather

In general (for me) I'd be more inclined to put in the description, especially if I was trying to evoke a certain mood - using weather almost like another character to tie in with theme or provide...

Re: Will you consider rating my blcklst hosted script?

Just after I posted that I queried some fairly reputable agents and got three read requests.

Whether including a line about being on the top list swayed them or not I dont know, but I'm sure it...

Re: Will you consider rating my blcklst hosted script?

Good luck Dalt. What genre is your script?

I've just had my second review back. After the highs of a 7 (yeah, I know!), comes a lowly 5. :(

Still, just made the Real Time top list with the average...

Re: Will you consider rating my blcklst hosted script?

About a week and a half for me. I suppose it might depend on the genre of your script and how stacked those particular readers are.

They will give you a free month's hosting if it goes over three...

Re: Will you consider rating my blcklst hosted script?

Just received a satisfactory 7 for my second script - The Dark Parade (https://www.blcklst.com/members/scripts/view/16158)

Bought a second review (hey, it's payday!) so I can get a bit of an...

Re: Zero Gravity

I heard back fairly promptly after querying Georgia with my first script. She asked me to send through something else. I did, but not heard anything for a couple of weeks now.

Guess the premise...

Re-watched The Game a few weeks ago. Love his performance in that film.
