Re: Using BOLD in spec scripts

I've never used bold in my scripts. In school, I was taught not to. Plus, I've never felt the need to.

But I do use caps. I was taught to make sounds in CAPS but I was told that I was doing it...

Re: roadmapwritershub.com ...anyone ever use them??

Thank you, grumpy. I have heard/read many criticisms of the Happy Writers pitch sessions ... I'll look into it further and see what I can find about Roadmap.

Re: How to figure out how much to charge for option/sell?

Thank you for this! I will not rule it out. I have no credits to my name to date, so that would be nice to have, to finally get the ball rolling.

And I do see on this person's IMDB page, this person...

I added it to my watchlist. I'm finishing up WORMWOOD first. Almost done with that one. I'll pop back in here when I finish it.

Re: So Iíve Created A Free Script Hosting Website; Script Revolution

A great site to get read and network.

CJ, not a failure at ALL. Don't listen to anyone being negative. Where are their script websites?

I send people not to my Stage32 or LinkedIn profile. I send...

Re: How to figure out how much to charge for option/sell?

 Ugh... I will most definitely try to convince her for more.
$1!? There's just no way I'd give my script away for practically nothing. :shifty:

Re: Alright vs all right in scripts

I'm going to need a minute to think things over... :|

Alright looks better to me in dialogue.
I'm just afraid of an uptight reader seeing it and thinking I'm "ignorant" simply because I didn't use...

Question Alright vs all right in scripts

The word "alright" shows up 8 times in my script. I believe they were all in dialogue (versus description.)

I read that technically you should use "all right" in writing... but do you think, since...

Re: Length can actually affect the option or not?

Years ago, my screenwriting professor, in response to me worrying that my script was too short at 80 pages said -- "No, it's as long as it needs to be."

I pretty much live by this. After numerous...

Re: Writing a Synopsis of Your Script

So... apparently I've been doing it wrong. My synopsises (sp?) have been much shorter than this. This is truly fleshed out, point by point.

Looks like I have some rewriting to do.

Question How to figure out how much to charge for option/sell?

Hi, long time no post!

I've been contacted this week by a number of directors, actors and film persons (seemingly out of nowhere). I checked them out and they're all legit.

A director wants to buy...

Question Loglines from Coverage?

If you get coverage, they write out a logline for your script.

I feel dumb for asking but: Are you allowed to use this logline when promoting your script? I always wondered...

I'm guessing YES.
I...

Re: 5% standard... does it apply to low budgets? Or newbie screenwriters?

DoneDeal, that's exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for taking the time to type all that up.

And yes, screen credit is very important. Trying to get that.

Question 5% standard... does it apply to low budgets? Or newbie screenwriters?

So I hear 5% of the budget is the standard pay for a screenwriter. (did I get that right?)

What if you've never sold a script before? Is asking for 5% of even a low budget film (say 3mil)...
