Re: Want/Need and Character Arc

Maybe I'm too nit-picky, but I feel like Rose NEVER really wants to marry Cal. The first narration she gives she says that she saw the Titanic as a prison or something like that. The whole time, even...

Re: Franklin Leonard

(It's so interesting you guys - someone, anyway - are pushing the poster to stop being lazy and send queries when most people on another thing I was reading -- probably Twitter -- agree that no one...

Re: Should I go to ComicCon?

I think you should go.
I get the idea it's a crazy, crowded mob.
But if you have a reason to be there and a specific connection, it's YOUR crazy crowded mob and you should be there at least that...

Re: How do the pros end a query?

How on earth could "I look forward to hearing from you" be considered passive aggressive?

Grammarly is an idiotic robot that is over-advertised AND unnecessary because Google Docs and Word and...

Re: Producing a Short - Advice Needed

And this is the complete opposite advice from Robert Rodriguez at Cannes yesterday for his new $7,000 movie... and, of course, he's right.
He says JUST START. Don't wait til you're passionate....

Re: Producing a Short - Advice Needed

I haven't read all these posts, but here's my 2 cents.
It's really hard to make movies, despite when you read in Rebel Without a Crew.
This is why that other poster posted This is John.
This is...

Re: BBC owns all British history or royal rights?

Thanks, MintClub. I think that was my agent's concern. But I know a guy who knows some guys/gals. Hopefully that will pan out, she said optimistically!

Re: Spiteful Gersh Agents?

I think they're probably terrified.

We have indie films. We have indie web series. We have startup streaming channels.

When people are having more success w/o agents than before, that's one more...

Re: Ever been inspired to write a screenplay by a song or a piece of music?

Multiple times.
My novels, which were originally screenplays and a webseries, were inspired by Juno Reactor's Pistolero.
I later took a local musician's songs and wrote a feature screenplay around...

Re: Not in the WGA Do I still fire my agent?

I was worried about this, but it turned out my agent had already signed the WGA code a month ago.

If anyone does get into a weird position and needs anyone, there are smaller agents who have signed...

BBC owns all British history or royal rights?

Is it true that either the BBC owns all the rights to British history and you need a UK passport in order to get financing for these things or to be staffed on a show like White Princess/White Queen,...

Re: Partnerships, collaboration, "great ideas," and writing for free

I've had quite a few offers to work together on this "great" idea a friend or stranger had.
The offer I accepted a) was within my general wheelhouse/sensibility b) was interesting c) was from a...
