Re: Zack Braff (Kickstarter)

I can attest to this... I put 30K into my own movie which ran out of money and hasn't seen the light of day, and while we still want to finish it. The whole endeavor is so exhausting and stressful...

Re: Oblivion

I retract the word FULLY from Original endeavor.

and I don't think there is a piece of modern literature, music, film etc.. That hasn't been inspired by something.. The word original should be...

Re: Oblivion

I think the reason I liked it so much is because this was a fully original endeavor even though it borrowed heavily on other films.

This wasn't an Avengers, Prometheus or a Hunger games, which had...

Re: Oblivion

I thought the movie was visually incredible. My eyeballs were in cinematic heaven the whole time.

Overall it was a solid effort, not bad, and not great, just an enjoyable amalgamation of ideas. You...

Re: Peter Jackson making the Hobbit a Trilogy

I love PJ and crew, especially how he brings the fans into his production process with each new Vlog.

But so far nothing about the Hobbit has gotten me excited, but I'd like to be. Hopefully a new...

Cloud Atlas Trailer

Here's an international 5 minute trailer for Cloud Atlas.

I've never read the book. It bares a slight resemblance to the film 'The Fountain' by Darren Aronosky.

The cut of the trailer certainly...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Just watched this last night.

First of all the theater I saw it in was brand new, with the best sound system, and projection system I have seen. Unfortunately whoever had control over the volume...

Re: The plot Prometheus should have had...

I'm unfamiliar with 50 shades of Grey, what's the story behind that?

As far as writing a different take on prometheus... I was mainly spitballing my own random thoughts, but some of those ideas...

Re: Amazing Spider-man trailer

I really liked this movie...

Of course spidey's origin story being retold felt familiar, but it also felt better handled than Raimi's version.

Garfield is exceptional as Peter. Far better than...

Re: The plot Prometheus should have had...

They wouldn't be named Adam and Eve. They would parallel that biblical story.

Did you watch Prometheus? A monkey could have cobbled together a better story.

Heck here's another idea... The...

I know the damage has been done, and it's irreversible, but I'm compelled to comment on what I feel should have been the plot for Prometheus.

The one thing Prevalent in these alien movies has been...

If there's a minimum length for a feature, I'd like to know what the maximum length is?

But I guess Until you have a hit produced with the same box office take as Avatar, Lord of the Rings or Harry...

Re: What's your outlining process?

After you've outlined and written that first draft, how often does the page count exceed the 90 -120 page standard?

Is it common to have a bloated 140-160 page script at first?

Re: What was the poorest written professional script you've read?

When I read the reboot of 'A nightmare on elm street' and 'Green Lantern'

Those two scripts were pretty shoddy.

Re: Is theme the opposite of a character’s flaw?

Movies have a Variation of themes, but which theme is the most important?

Take Aliens for example. The plot theme is Man Vs Nature. (Marine's vs vile alien creatures.)

and

Man Vs Man. (Burke...

In the script pages forum, I posted some pages, and the subject of theme came up. I've never approached a script with a solid theme in mind before, and if I had, it was never intentionally.

But...

Re: 'Prometheus' offers oozing sci-fi spectacle, early reviews say...

Both movies are better than Prometheus in my opinion. And say what you will about Avatar's stereotypical character's and unoriginal plot. It doesn't have the plot holes Prometheus does.

Re: 'Prometheus' offers oozing sci-fi spectacle, early reviews say...

I think the trouble with these highly paid writers is that they worked their ass off on that one script which got them noticed. And then they're given two months to write something profound and ready...

We are also led to believe that none of the crew knew each other prior to the mission.

The geologist guy not wanting to make friends was literally the only amount of character building we got out...

Re: 'Prometheus' offers oozing sci-fi spectacle, early reviews say...

I just thought of how they could have made Prometheus a way better film.

Have it so that the Engineers who made human life ended up creating a synthetic being... Much like how the humans created...
