Re: Notes from Producers

Okay all, I thank you for some excellent feedback and insight into this. I looked closer at my agreement and it appears that I can use the notes and that I do own the changes with no encumbrances...

Re: Jojo Rabbit

Well said, Friday! You should be a writer ;)

The creativity in both films was striking indeed, as was the fact that they both seemed to serve a higher purpose.

I won't get into another...

Re: Jojo Rabbit

I typically have the inclination to avoid films like this [when I see the Nazi atrocities used in the name of "art"]... that being said, I did end up seeing it late in the game and as dense as I am,...

Re: Notes from Producers

Thanks docgonzo -- That's what I wondered. I think when I signed, the language wasn't really meaningful --or frankly, that important to me. The terms are new and maybe I didn't examine the agreement...

Re: Notes from Producers

I get a specific list of where it will be shopped but because it is not exclusive I can continue to shop it where I or my agent wants to.

I'm no genius (clearly) and I know I could ask my agent, but...

Notes from Producers

I signed a non-exclusive shopping agreement with a small producing team and received excellent notes from which I did some rewrites. This was your standard agreement, and I'm just asking...

Re: Little Women

JoeBanks, spot on review, IMO. Though my kid and I (and others I spoke to) found the non-linear timeline challenging, I understand Gerwig's decision (and agree with it). If I could change anything, I...

Re: "THE LUGNUT LIST" -- The Mechanic's Top 10 of 2019

Nice to see some familiar names ( three of whom I know) getting some well-deserved recognition, esp as they're all writers who've been working hard on their craft for years.

Congrats to those who...

Optioning vs. Selling your script

I wonder if someone can explain (in excrutiating detail as like to a child) the difference of the basic option, say a year option with THE MOST standard terms normally seen (and a little bit of cash...

Re: Blacklist Experience #1239932

I don't proclaim to know anything, but I tend to think this is not quite accurate.

Thanks to all of you who piped up!

I feel MUCH better after your notes, and have renewed confidence in the coverage I received :)

"Fake" Coverage

I've had tons of writers like you guys, online friends and acquaintences, who I've never met, who have read for me. Some have liked my work, while others have pointed out problems they see in my...

Re: Little Raj Writing Help

Well, I went back to re-read your post in case I just missed something, and I'm just not seeing it. But fine, if that's how you do "gentle support" God knows I don't want to pick a fight.

It sounds...

Re: Little Raj Writing Help

Speaking of diatribe, did you even read what AnyOtherName just said??

Who gains by this type of comment?

If you had paid for notes and been unhappy, then perhaps your own diatribe might be...

Re: Agent Question

EdFury, could you possibly share the "Cliff Notes" version of what those 18 years looked like with 8 options, or just share a little more about that experience, if it's not too difficult? I mean,...

Re: How do you signify a short break between two different shots?

I like that a lot--it's clean and your reader gets the point without wasting a lot of ink.

Re: The Greatest Showman

Totally with you on this, Darthclaw. The only difference is I'm not a sucker for musicals, and almost didn't see it because it was a musical. Don't know how it's doing at the box office outside the...

Re: The Shape of Water

I'm no fanboy of Guillermo del Toro, and I don't lean towards the mystical-magical genre.I went fully prepared to dislike this film.

I found it lovely and somehow fell under its spell....

Re: Black List Website Postmortem

I had a similar situation to Kinterboy, and thought I share in case it is of interest to someone out there.

I paid for an eval in December 2017 --the only paid read for this script. It randomly...
