Re: Script Shadow Shafts "slaughter"

Re: Script Shadow Shafts "slaughter"

Re: A "Director's" Pass?

Push to collaborate. Speaking from experience, it will give you the chance to push back on the ideas you truly hate.

Re: Writer Close To Two Sales With No Rep

"By the way, I'm in the hunt for a good rep, have any recommendations?"

If they want to volunteer a helping hand, they'll respond by doing so.

Re: I'm moving (my family) to LA

Because those are also places that are more urban, with higher crime rates. Has nothing to do with the careers people chose -- it's that people tend to pursue careers in larger cities.

Correlation...

Re: Non-WGA rate for writing a treatment?

Why does everyone act like it's easy to get a quality Ent Attorney? Or that it's reasonable for an aspiring screenwriter to lay down an exorbitant fee to acquire one for what will likely be a tiny...

Re: Scriptshadow is showing results.

Thanks. It's frustratingly sad to see so many waste their energy in fighting fake battles. If people dedicated half the energy to the craft as they do trying to find some secret passageway inside the...

Re: Scriptshadow is showing results.

Online communities of amateur screenwriters (like this guy's blog) are an odd thing. They tend to become insulated and form their own parallel understanding of the industry that has no basis in...

Re: Disciple Program Sells w/Mark Wahlberg

Ah! So we've arrived at the crux of why August and Mazin believe this blog does a disservice to writers -- no one cares if someone LIKES a script. EVERYONE cares if there is the slightest bit of...

Re: Disciple Program Sells w/Mark Wahlberg

Any exec who would cite an amateur screenwriting blogger as reason for putting a film into production wouldn't be in this industry long.

Re: The Exception Proves The Rule

Re: Script payment

The budget's 900k. If the guy is resistent to paying a reasonable amount up front, I would ONLY accept a deferment under the LBA. I supposed that's just me. If I wasn't getting paid a full purchase...

Re: Is age important?

I was denied a staff position on a show at 25. Producers actually told my agent the reason they were passing me over was my youth.

It happens in TV. Features? Write a good spec and no one will care...

Re: hidden meanings

Take it for what it says. If you hear similar things from others, do a character pass.

Always continue. Lower your head and forge on. If he'd thought it was unreadable, he wouldn't have bothered...
