Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

Maybe, someone who enters this first batch will give clarity on all these questions once the selection process is concluded.

Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

Okay, well, at least the writer will have some face time with the shaper. Not sure how involved Imagine or Netflix is in the process from those paragraphs.

Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

So, if you win, do you have a relationship with Imagine and Netflix? The appeal of the previous Imagine Impact was that they mentored you, you had a chance to network with their shapers and...

Re: Competition Entry Numbers?

Maybe more writers, even the seasoned ones, are entering these contests more lately. The numbers seem higher.

Re: Competition Entry Numbers?

I think it was way more than that lately. Their numbers have increased.

Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

Yeah, the confusion to the video comes from the different sections that give slightly different directions. The original Impact program from last year had a much clearer easy to understand question...

Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

Maybe people here who have actual experience applying to the previous Impact programs will have more 2 cents to chime in on this about the dos and don'ts of making that 30 second video. Personally,...

Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

Sure, they are seeing if they can work with you based on the video....but it is asking for you to answer a question. I am sure some writers have looked at the question and wasn't quite clear what...

Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

It sounds closer to the way Amazon had it set up a while back. That's assuming the budget is over 5 million. If not, it's closer to 70 grand...not sure how much after taxes. I guess it's ok if...

Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

How much did the previous Imagine Impact winners who received deals get?

The previous program sounded like you had a lot more opportunity to network and build relationships.

Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

The instructions look a little different. It seems more vague than the original Imagine Impact where they actually told you to answer a specific question in the video.

I wonder how much actual take...

Re: The Script Pipeline Screenwriting Competition

Do you think they read through the entire script? Or maybe first 10, then skim. I'm not as familiar with this contest.

Re: Imagine Impact X Netflix

WGA minimum doesn't sound like a lot of money. It seemed like the other Impact program paid a lot more.

What are they looking for in the 30 second video? It sounds very vague.

Re: Trim Down That Spec

That's why those Geico commercials are so genius. Usually you have an option to skip the commercial after 5 seconds, but Geico usually has a premise that forces you to sit through the entire...

Re: Trim Down That Spec

110 is probably the new 120. Maybe even 105. I remember a reader once telling me that things have changed in the last few years and it's moving towards shorter and shorter scripts. Her point was...

Re: Trim Down That Spec

We're assuming these scripts are written like a Gillian Flynn or Shane Black - easy to read language that is easy to follow and flies by in just a few hours. Some 100 page scripts feel like 150...

Re: Can I do anything with a high placement in a screenwriting competition?

Many educational systems at least attempt to have a standard of judging. They will have teachers grade samples and make sure there isn't a wide fluctuation and what's considered an A, B, C.... ...

Re: Effect of the Coronavirus

Ah. Then, I guess I'm fine. I'm right at 60. Do you have to establish your hook by the end of act 2? Or can you wait till the end of act 3? I've seen different TV pilots go in different...

Re: Can I do anything with a high placement in a screenwriting competition?

An 8 and a 3....that's quite a disparity. That's like if two English teachers, one graded the same paper an A and the other a F. If such a wide margin happens, the site should look at that and see...

LOL. I'm waiting for their "Murder Hornets" the movie.

By the way, what's considered too long for a pilot page count wise?

Re: Effect of the Coronavirus

Well, looks like Michael Bay's going to do a Pandemic thriller called Songbird that starts production in 5 weeks.
