Re: My Karate is better than your Karate!

I wasn't sure if it was a Todd Karate thread, but I was at least hoping it was about a script about karate styles pitted against each other.

Anyone truly interested in screenwriting should read...

Re: Biopics

Just beware of your sources, make sure you aren't pulling research from a recently published work that you would need to get rights from. Especially if you are using the internet for research, a lot...

Re: Collaboration troubles

Yeah, might be considered a dick move by him, but at the same time, if you're done with him, who cares? Especially if the script has value. Although, if the subject is close to his heart, he might...

Re: Party Down

Yeah, Martin Starr said the script is being written, but it's just a matter of nailing down people like Adam Scott and Lizzy Caplan, who have since become quite busy. I still hope it happens at some...

Inside Comedy with David Steinberg

Anyone watch this Showtime show? I've caught up on the episodes recently, there is some really great stuff with how comedians approach their comedy. In all the interviews I've seen with guys like...

Re: Question about music in a film

That's the key, don't promise. Just pitch. "I got a movie that needs music written for it, ever thought about it?" Hell, you don't even have to pitch HIM directly, just "trying to get a...

Re: Lillyhammer

I know the creators approached Steven Van Zandt to see if he'd even consider playing a similar character again, but that's all I know. I would assume they had agents that pitched it to Netflix, who...

Re: Eastbound and Down Season 3

One of those shows that only seems to get better as it goes. Just when I think they've run out of space, they make a wide left and go in a completely different direction. I love it.

Re: 2011-2012 Season Any Favs?

I really liked Homeland, guess that falls into this season as it just ended.

I LOVE Key and Peele, in my opinion, it has the potential to be better than Chappelle's Show as they develop the style. ...

Re: The Disciple Program...

With L.A. Rex, it's not content as the format on the page. Took me a few passes on some segments to make sure I was following the action properly in my head. It was very stop and go, ruining the...

Re: Who here wants to go from Screenwriting to Directing

It all depends what you're doing, too. I mean, for the budget of John Carter, the Coen Brothers could've made 15-20 movies. Instead, it all went to a movie that is seemingly going to flop big time.

Re: Question about music in a film

This may sound stupid, but why wouldn't you at least float the idea out there, to gauge his response? If he's not at all interested in at least the concept, you know not to push it. If he's like "I...

Re: Let Them Quit

I know a guy that is just awful, and incredibly prolific. Despite never getting a single note of positive feedback, he keeps going. Good for him, I say. Although he's never talked about quitting,...

Both. But again, it's a unique story, so knowing nothing about orchid hunting (or that it even existed) it was all new territory to me.

The other thing I'd like to consider is most reps these days...

She came out vehemently denying ever having heard of the books or movies. I agree, however. Literally, the same basic set up.

Re: Who here wants to go from Screenwriting to Directing

Agreed. But the ones that can, whoo boy, can they ever. Coen Brothers, Tarantino, and Rian Johnson are some of my favorite people making movies right now.

Re: The Disciple Program...

I agree completely, but on the same token, everyone seemed to love 'L.A. Rex' and that was one of the most disjointed scripts I ever read. Very unique action lines, double dialogue, etc.

I would...
