Has a 'free option' ever worked out well?

I'm sure many of us have encountered the words: "We'd like to option it, but we have minimal development funds" -- followed by promises of hefty back end numbers and production bonuses.

I just...

Re: Do Brits (still) really talk like this?

Yes that's fine, albeit upper class.

As is 'dapper' and 'fetching'.

Re: Producer Lucas Foster - Warp Films

It will take a while, but you're in good hands. He used to work for Bruckheimer, despite his own resume speaking for itself.

I recall it taking a few months to hear back, myself. (Many moons ago.)

Spoken with David Gambino many a time when he was at WB Silver Pictures -- since his move to Team Downey we've lost touch and the email I had for him has bounced. Does anyone have his...

Getting 'Round The Assistant

Sooo, about 4 execs and other agents have all casually said "you should talk to Mr Agent over at We Rep Writers Inc. He's into this kind of stuff" which is all well and good...but his assistant...

If anyone has his email at JB Films, or his assistant, I would much appreciate it. Happy to make a trade if needs be.

Say a writer...

Re: Good Scripts written in a short period of time

I heard that Hensleigh wrote his early spec that eventually became Die Hard 3 in a few days. And didn't Paul Schrader do Taxi Driver in a week or so???

Re: Brief Summary of Theme or Plot (Submission Forms)

Yeah that's a bitch. Personally, whether its right or wrong, I put the genre, but try and juice it up a bit. So, 'Action Adventure' might be better as 'Underwater Action Adventure' or 'Noctural...

Re: Who decides the budget?

Hey guys, thanks for the input. The reason I ask is that our project is not officially set up yet, but people who *might* be interested want to know the budget.

This is all good stuff so thanks!...

Who decides the budget?

Just out of curiosity, and probably a dumb question, but is it the studio that decides the budget for a picture? Or producer?

Re: A Spec Over 120 pgs

When a reader/producer approaches a script and see it as 90 pages, would they have a negative preconception towards it...? As in, it may not be taken 'as' seriously because it is shorter than 100?

If you can't find it...
