Re: Rooting for Antiheroes

I'll admit that 1. I have not read the JW script. 2. I do not know the full behind the scenes story of how the script ended up being made. I know that Kolstad had written two scripts that Dolph...

Re: Rooting for Antiheroes

One thing that seems obvious, but I thought I'd point it out since I have time on my hands... As far as antiheroes in movies versus series, one thing is substantially easier in series - nuances. ...

Movies

It's been a long time since I've posted here and this post is more than a little late, but maybe better late than never (In Chicago, we are still on a shelter in place order.)

Do you have any movies...

Re: Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood

I did enjoy a good portion of this QT outing.

I agree about the pace. One long shot of Brad's character driving - cue soundtrack which was solid - was enough. I lived in LA. I get it. ...

Re: Widows

Saw it last night. Wanted to like it more than I did. I'd say 3 out of 5 stars.

Widows tried to do way too much imo politics, flashbacks. By doing that it shortchanged elements of the heist and...

Re: Hereditary

Just saw Hereditary and had to bump this thread.

I'm saying this was phenomenal. By the end, I was mesmerized, horrified and thinking I just might have seen a classic.

I was impressed with the...

Re: BlacKKKlansman

Saw the film last night and enjoyed it. I thought John David Washington was solid as Ron.

Topher Grace as David Duke felt odd to me. It took me until the induction ceremony to no longer grin...

Re: BlacKKKlansman

I'll be honest 1. I make it a point to stop by here and read Joe's reviews. 2. I haven't seen the movie and it's on my list to see. 3. I won't fall further into the DDP rabbit hole of reading...

Re: Passengers

Interestingly enough there was a multiple page thread from 2012 about the major "flaw" of Jim waking up Aurora in the Scripts Forum.

I read Passengers a while back and since it had been "vetted"...

Re: Why aren't more people talking about The Americans?

Working for the US.

That would be Z squared. My head would explode, but in a good way where the cerebral matter becomes smoke... (insert joke there) And I can get over it with a few Advil.

Re: Why aren't more people talking about The Americans?

Another thumbs up for the show. I love their plotting. There have been episodes where I was sure they had no choice, but to do A or B. They did A and B and D and then Z.

They continually...

Re: The Revenant

Saw it, loved it as torturous as it was, it was still contemplative. The pyramid of animal skulls. The movie has pretty much stayed with me since.

The cinematography, sound and soundtrack. ...

I enjoyed it. But yeah there were flaws in retrospect. My girlfriend is a big James Bond fan and she enjoyed it.

Agreed on the romance. Forced.

Agreed on the last act. I heard Spectre...

Re: Martian

Saw it in 3D due to a mix up. Didn't intend to. Half way through the movie I had no idea why it was shot in 3D. There's no need to see it in 3D. Didn't feel like I had been to Mars or in a NASA...
