Re: Screenwriting Quirks You Might Have

From what I understand, its a rare script that wont get a production rewrite anyway. At that point I assume they'll remove any song titles and include their own.

I personally wouldn't use any song...

Re: Complicated split-screen shot

Possible :) But I'm getting keen on the idea of the conversation VO'd over a relevant flash-back. Not quite in the line of Mr & Mrs Smith's early scenes, but something along those lines. Not sure how...

Re: Complicated split-screen shot

Hmm - I just been thinking how to describe a telephone conference call between the five leading characters in my script, and considering split-screening it.

Now I'm thinking that doing this is...

Re: Assassinating important politicians?

I think the secret service catches the public imagination more by swearing to throw themselves bodily in the path of oncoming bullets meant for their boss. I guess most any law enforcement officer...

Re: Assassinating important politicians?

Cool :) There seems to be enough doubt about its infeasibility that I could leave it as it stands. I'm not going to be around the people who'll be in the fallout zone - I'm moving in the distant...

Re: assassinating important politicians?

Thanks bio :)

That sounds a great idea for a meatier scene that I'm after. Which makes me think if I want to keep it short and simple I'll have to ditch the secret-service, and probably the...

Re: assassinating important politicians?

 Well - I kinda like Emily's solution...

My method is already pretty creative (I think). I'm using thirty all singing all dancing flash-mob assassins - which is why I need a large public...

Re: assassinating important politicians?

Wow, NG! Are you running for president? That's a pretty comprehensive answer :)

But puts me in a pickle.

I spose the private gateways could be under renovation....? My senator on the...

Assassinating important politicians?

I'm guessing that any figure important enough to warrant Secret-Service protection would never pass through public airport buildings... But I have a Senator being assassinated in Dulles airport...

Final Draft 8 help?

Hi

I'm using Final-Draft to format my script, but I think that get's its page size from my printer - which has UK style A4 sized paper in it (11.7 x 8.3 inches).

Does anybody know how I can set...

Re: ScriptShadow Priority Run

What's the point of being a writer if we can't punctuate anyway we like? Don't we get ANY concessions? :(

sorry for being a party-pooper and getting back OT...

LOL - oh - whatever :)

Re: Paying Homage... How to Format this Scene...

Interesting. But just some thoughts:-

- what if those art pieces aren't on show at the time the movie is shot?
- are items in a museum in any way copywrited - the same way as songs or book quotes?...

Re: Dialogue and subtext

wow - great thread :)

I was really stuck trying to liven up some dialogue until I read this. I made some notes, and think I have a good head start for a little sharper conversation...

my notes:

Re: Secret service dilemma?

Ok. But I'm guessing you wouldn't see the same face on the tv twice. (I still haven't finished that nat. geo. documentary yet).

Re: Secret service dilemma?

Thanks for the link :) Watching it now.

I'm guessing a secret service agent would, though. After all, running along side the president on prime-time national TV is hardly gonna re-inforce the...

Re: Secret service dilemma?

Ok :) - Thanks BM
I'm really only after a feasibility response tho. At the end of the day I suppose I can write it whichever way I want, but just wondered what ppl would find believable.

Re: Secret service dilemma?

Ah - sorry. :)

OK - I'm gonna make an executive decision and say they're using IMVU, not facebook (which I think would incriminte too many people these days).

So we have an organisation using...

Re: Secret service dilemma?

WHo knows! Talk to their kids perhaps - or just trying to look kool even. If we're talking about IMVU, maybe they're looking for a good virtual fck. What I'm asking is, how would their boses respond...

Re: Secret service dilemma?

LOL *calls 911 for haroldhecuba*

Ok - maybe masons were a bad example.

Lets use Facebook instead - or something similar, and obscure (I've got IMVU in mind).

Say Facebook was a near unknown...

Re: Sexual orientations?

Haha - So if I want a bi woman in my story I have to bind her so tightly into the plot that nobody is going to be able to change her to a straight one without doing a total rewrite? Gotcha! :)

Re: Sexual orientations?

Understand what you're saying. But we all want to write stories about macho heroes, horses, killer fish, submarines, death or whatever just for the hell of it at the outset, then try to find a story...
