Re: What Prod Co's Actually DO Accept Email Queries?

In my experience the vast majority of prod. co's are open to queries (but not neccessarily via email) but it really depends on the 'fit' and the approach and the intrigue factor of the idea, so, in...

Re: What Prod Co's Actually DO Accept Email Queries?

Re: Tips On Phone Pitching, Please.

My experience of cold calling it is easier to get reads if you have a high concept hook that you can pitch in seconds rather than minutes--and an old insurance trick is to tell them you only want 15...

Re: Is Creative Screenwriting still in business?? YES!

:D

Yeah, when you are on this side of the pond most of the films reviewed aren't out until months after the CS has written about them.

Re: Is Creative Screenwriting still in business??

I unsubscribed to both CS and Script but I do enjoy Jeff G's CS podcasts. Hope that keeps going.

Oh, and agree on the PR 'own goal' scored by Bill responding to his subscribers in that way. Highly...

Re: Save The Cat Strikes Back (Book 3)

I have to say I did find his first book useful. I used his beat sheet for a book adaptation commission and, ironically, a non-linear Memento-like script. I used his software for the latter, it helped...

Re: Blog on Artfulwriter...

Ditto. Unsubscribed to his blog a long time ago. My fave blogs right now are: 3 a.m Magazine and a Piece of Monologe and I subscribe to a couple of working screenwriter friends' blogs who rarely...

Re: Sales agents/foreign territories pre-sale

That's standard strategy. Cast triggers finance, triggers sales agents attachments. Question is: Can he get reads without finance? He needs relationships for that. Tough with a low budget piece. Does...

Re: E-mail Seduction - Can't Get a Read

It's who you go to when you can't afford Linda Seger ;)

Acqua. Some good suggestions and help here in this thread. You can't quote paid script consultants. Screams amateur. Nicholl is good though....

Re: Email for Carol Bodie from ICM?

That's a given. It's not really about that. It's whether a new, unrepped writer with no producer or director can attach major talent that will actually trigger financing and on these boards and...

Re: Email for Carol Bodie from ICM?

Good luck with this approach but you also have to be very careful as to who you attach. If the talent you attach will not attract finance, cannot generate high enough sales figures then your...

Re: Email for Carol Bodie from ICM?

Exactly, so look at it from the other angle. If a producer wanted you to write for him/her. Wouldn't you want to know a) If there is any money b) who the producer is and c) what chance the producer...

Re: Email for Carol Bodie from ICM?

Even if you are a producer you are likely to get a response of "come back when you have the funding". There are ways round this i.e. you get yourself an established producer who has relationships...

Re: The Slush Pile

I don't see why such an article has to be met with extreme pessimism or optimism. Even the likes of Tony Robbins advocate a change of strategy if one course of action doesn't work so it pays to have...

I've been given a couple of projects as potential assignments which I didn't warm to. One was a book that I kind of hated BUT I did come up with a way to make it work and was quite clear about that...

Re: Assignments -- Can NEW writers without a sale really land them?

I've been writing assignments for some time now, well, at least if you go by the definition of assignment as 'paid work for hire' but if the definition includes full WGA rates then no they're not but...
