Re: They've ruined Phillip K Dick's Radio Free Albemuth

What I wanna know is, how did these people secure the rights from the PKD estate?

Exterminate. With extreme prejudice.

Kill it. KILL IT WITH FIRE!

Re: Movies Driven by Unexplainable Forces?

Yeah I agree, this whole debate sprung from vagueness.

Look for my "unexplainable force" line of bumper stickers coming soon.

Re: Movies Driven by Unexplainable Forces?

IMO the CHILDREN OF MEN premise falls under plausible reality. In reality, women are born infertile. So an infertility epidemic is something I can see happening. Just because something in a movie...

Re: Movies Driven by Unexplainable Forces?

Interesting thing about GROUNDHOG DAY is there is a version of the script that provides an explanation. I think a gypsy puts a curse Phil. Think I remember reading that it was a point of contention...

Re: Movies Driven by Unexplainable Forces?

I'd make the argument for STRANGER THAN FICTION. There is no attempt whatsoever to logically explain why Harold Crick starts hearing the author's narration, and that definitely drives the movie.

Re: So, I saw Source Code tonight...

SPOILERS

I think it was a visual motif throughout the film? When Colter transitions from the real world to the source code, he flashes of images distorted through the mirror bean.

I haven't...

Re: Oscar's Best And Worst Moments

Kimmel & Carolla would be fantastic. Too bad it'll never happen.

Re: Oscar's Best And Worst Moments

Anyone see that interview with Franco with like 25 minutes to show? He was so nervous & distracted, he couldn't even answer a question straight. The countdown timer ticking over his head made it...

Re: Oscar's Best And Worst Moments

The Billy Crystal moment was great. The crowd reaction... it was like a clutch relief pitcher coming in for a struggling starter.

Re: Cry or not to cry?

When used, I tend to tone it down, in the spirit of "less is more," and to avoid slipping into soapy, melodrama territory. There was a great action line in Andrew Dominik's JESSE JAMES script:

Re: Current Actors That Remind You Of Legends?

Disagree with your comparisons, I just don't see it. Maybe I'm not good at this game. Clooney kinda reminds me of a classic movie star, per his looks and persona, but not one specifically.

Re: Repo Men.

I haven't seen the movie so I'm making assumptions based on the trailer, but that's where the movie lost me. It looked too serious for a borderline ridiculous premise. Is there a big moment when...

Re: DeNiro speech (Golden Globe award)

Yeah it was bizarre and hilarious. I kind of loved it. It's Deniro. He can do whatever he wants.

Re: Skyline

Kind of agree with Terrance, it looks pretty bad (you can just tell from the trailer, the acting and shoehorned-in plot is gonna blow)... yet I remain mildly interested.

Re: Devil

What was missing was an ending that made sense, or was at least satisfying. The trite backstory with the detective was by far the least interesting thread in the film. So I thought it was a mistake...

Re: Outsourced

Didn't really like it. Main character is an unlikeable tool. He's like a cross between Michael Scott and Ryan Seacrest. I didn't gravitate toward any of the characters, and didn't really laugh...

Re: Nicolas Cage

Man, how can you not love the guy? Even when he completely derails a film (KNOWING), he sure does keep it interesting. He has some truly hysterical scenes in KNOWING.

Re: The Town

*SPOILERS HERE*

Held my interest, but I think the film went awry when it went away from its main source of conflict, which is when Renner discovers Affleck is seeing the witness. It creates...
