Re: Advice needed from repped writers (spec related situation)

I hate to say this, man, but unless I'm going senile, this reminds me of... wasn't there someone on here years ago that kept developing the same script for years and years with the same manager?...

Re: Nicholl 2019

You can learn a lot from that list. Most are character-driven, even the ones that have big sharks in them.

Re: The next TERMINATOR flick

Sarah Connor was only the target in the first one. Afterwards its was John Connor himself. And this time it's a young Mexican girl, apparently. But yeah, it's the same concept pretty much every time....

The next TERMINATOR flick

Is anyone else stoked about this? I think it looks pretty badass. And honestly, a very welcome break from the Marvel universe.

Re: The Graham Norton Show

Here's one of my faves, Chris Pratt talking about whipping his d!ck out on the set of Parks and Recreation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg8dSfiiRqI

I love how the other guests are in stitches.

Re: Loving your character too much

Right?
It's tough figuring this stuff out. But I think (hope) that the fact that it's taking me so long to figure it out is going to pay off in the end.

The Graham Norton Show

I haven't had a TV in years, so haven't seen hardly any late night talk shows in the same amount of time. But somehow I discovered the Graham Norton show on youtube, and I can easily spend hours...

Re: Good Advice From Writers

Agree. Thanks for posting, Bono. Totally bookmarked. I've done Julia Cameron's Morning Pages before, I'm not sure I can necessarily link it to a period of heightened creativity in my life, but I...

Re: Loving your character too much

Well I'm back to not knowing what to do with this character. It's frustrating because this major plot detail is really all that's missing and keeping me from wrapping this thing up.

Re: Good Advice From Writers

I remember this from James Cameron in an interview: "Give your character a goal and make him go through absolute hell and back to reach it."

Re: Best Jobs While Waiting For The Big Break in Film

P.S.: Aren't you in NY? There's got to be some HW writing action in NYC, too, no? OR: write a play, get it produced on Broadway, have it sell out for 2 years, boom, problem solved :bounce:

Re: Best Jobs While Waiting For The Big Break in Film

Yeah, I should have explained. What I mean is that when I was starting out, I naively thought that being a screenwriter meant selling a script and getting a movie made. I assume that's what a lot of...

Re: Do you have any show recommendations?

Sounds like one I'll want to check out.

I loved THE KAMINSKY METHOD on NF, with Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. So glad it's coming back for a second season.

I also love CALL MY AGENT, a French...

Re: Best Jobs While Waiting For The Big Break in Film

True, but the reason I switched back to novels is because I began to understand what "success" as a screenwriter meant in a lot of cases and that totally killed the passion for me. Anyway, yeah, I...

Re: Manuscript Wish List

I came to the conclusion once (and I wrote it here at some point) that you write a novel with words and a script with images. Obviously within that general rule there is the whole range of nuance and...

Re: Manuscript Wish List

It might be, I'm not sure. It would be interesting to see the statistics. Both are very hard, but one thing is certain, it doesn't cost tens of million dollars to publish a book, so that's one...
