Re: Crank

I look forward to renting this one, even knowing it'll be dumb. I enjoyed the Transporter movies, and this looks to be in the same vein. I'm fully capable of enjoying big, dumb action if I know from...

Re: Nicholl Semi Finalist Letters Go Out TODAY!!!

Soon he'll be blogging from Hawaii, that lucky-plus-talented bastard.

It's a good point, about going ahead and querying with the semi-finalist thing. That already puts you in a group only a little...

Re: Three Periods

In which case, it doesn't really matter in real-world terms.

For years, I've used ellipses like this...in the middle of a sentence, and I've ended sentences with an ellipsis like this.... I just...

Re: The Crocodile Hunter is dead! Not a joke.

Whoa. That'd be almost as dumb as writing a Fartman spec.

Re: Three Periods

Even better, most word processing programs will automatically turn -- into an em dash, unless you tell 'em not to.

I don't think Final Draft does, though. Presumably because "That's not how it's...

Re: Should I write my sci-fi idea?

By the way, Joe: The above shows just how far out of proportion you've blown this whole debate.

One poster says you're "F'n way off base," several others disagree with your opinion, and suddenly...

Re: Should I write my sci-fi idea?

I notice that when someone points out a flaw in your argument, you have a tendency to accuse them of twisting your words. Even when they've quoted you, cut-and-paste verbatim, from your own post....

Re: Three Periods

Nitpick:

That's not a hyphen; it's a dash.

hyphen: -

dash: --

You don't like The Big Lebowski?

You're suspect.

Re: The Crocodile Hunter is dead! Not a joke.

Yeah. At least it's unlikely she'll have Internet access where she is. Or TV. Somebody will be trying nonstop to get in touch with her, so she probably won't have to learn about this from the...

Re: The Crocodile Hunter is dead! Not a joke.

Weird to think that a snake or croc didn't get the Crocodile Hunter.

I didn't even know stingrays could kill a man. But the more I learn about Australia, the more I get the impression every living...

Re: The Crocodile Hunter is dead! Not a joke.

It must be very fresh news. The entire text of the story on the Associated Press wire right now is:

"BRISBANE, Australia (AP) - Steve Irwin, Australian television presenter known as "The Crocodile...

Re: Should I write my sci-fi idea?

Yeah, that'd be a good example of a movie that's not high concept.

A lot of great movies are not high concept. Casablanca's not really high concept, and it's one of the best movies ever made. I...

Re: Should I write my sci-fi idea?

"Highly marketable" doesn't mean guaranteed success or quality. High concept films are considered highly marketable because they have a big, simple hook that's easy to convey to the audience -- but...

Re: Title Page - Add WGA Registration #???

I don't think it's necessary to have it on your script, but I don't believe you'll enrage anyone if it's on there. :)

I haven't seen any ads, and last rumor I heard was that as of last week, a poster still hadn't been approved.

I wonder who Fox will blame for the failure of this movie they utterly failed to promote.

Re: A complete re-vision -- how?

It does seem like that's probably the case. Since it's echo's adviser who's asking for the rewrite, he probably doesn't have the luxury of writing another script or two and then going back to this...

8a) The fact that you're not typing at the moment doesn't mean you're not writing.

That's not really a bad thing, though. It means you can get up, walk around, feed the cat, and still be...

And, having phrased the question that way, Joe, you got the answer you wanted.

Thanks for clarifying that by posting the full question. Now we know for sure his answer had nothing to do with this...
