Re: Blue Cat Congrats!

Thanks for clarifying. After BALLS OUT won Blue Cat, it's hard to guess what these winners really are based on the title. It is depressing for writers in genres other than Drama though.

Re: Tagging on a co-writer?

he's a lawyer in Washington DC these days. I figure if anything would come of it, it's better to slap it on the title page now. I'll call him on Tuesday.

Re: Tagging on a co-writer?

We wrote and printed a monthly comic in third grade. There's been interest in the concept based on a recent pitch.

Tagging on a co-writer?

If I wanted to add a co-writer on my title page (best friend for example), would that be okay, or would they have to be 50 percent of the writing process?

Re: Leeches (managers, agents) vs. "Oscar" winners.

I am assuming that a pattern develops of deleting queries, based on that a majority is literally garbage. Reps want diamonds, not a piece of coal they have to work with or spend time replying to.

Re: Leeches (managers, agents) vs. "Oscar" winners.

Maybe they actually read your query and thought your concept wasn't worth a reply.

But also, my rep deletes queries when she has the clients she wants on her roster. Pretty sure there are a lot of...

Online search for trademarked phrases?

I am still searching, but is there a website I can search for phrases that could be trademarked? I have a questionable phrase for a title of a screenplay, but unsure if it'll cause a shitload of...

Re: When did you get your first cell phone?

I had one in 2008, but lost it on the Santa Monica beach after a heavy night of drinking. Now, I rock an Ipod Touch with Skype. It's like a ninja rigged Iphone.

Re: Warning: Antivirus Software Auto Backups

I own 3 - 32GB, 8GB, and 1GB. I keep my scripts on the 32GB and know I won't lose that (I have all episodes of Entourage on that one). I keep notes and stuff on the 1GB to swap between all the...

'Voice' is what I keep hearing. Stop experimenting with every genre and find your voice.

Re: Warning: Antivirus Software Auto Backups

I have a 32GB usb stick. I toss everything on there anymore.

The Anti-Virus programs try to calm paranoia, but actually cause more problems.

Re: Blue Cat Congrats!

I'm assuming it's a badass action spec or a big budget adventure? Wait, contest, so it's a drama or a comedy that will never be made?

Re: Spec Sales

I've stopped keeping up with what's selling or what has sold. Rather that, I focus on my own writing and trying to get that in the market.

Re: Producer pass?

Yeah. A closed door can mean a permanently closed door, especially to an unknown/unrepped writer. I'm repped, and I still have hard times pitching to Happy Madison because Heather Parry remembers an...

Re: Producer pass?

Yeah, I had no intention to be rude. I was basing my reply off of the pattern of topics made by the OP. A lot of script requests, and a lot of passes. Something is wrong in the equation.

Re: Producer pass?

I think that's totally called for. What are the two main reasons why someone passes on a script. 1. The writing isn't up to par. 2. The Concept isn't marketable enough.
