Re: Atlas Literary (HertzbergMedia) - New Management Company

It doesn't seem like they've been folded in yet -- they don't appear on the staff lists for Atlas Entertainment. My experience has been when a company is acquired, the old email addresses still work...

Re: Atlas Literary (HertzbergMedia) - New Management Company

If you log into IMDbPro, Hertzberg has his phone number, email address and snail mail address listed. Not hard to find at all. Looks like he has some good clients. Adam Burger lists his email address...

Re: Rom-coms per Scriptshadow

In Before Sunrise, there is a huge obstacle to get over -- they live in completely different parts of the world. They're not sure if they'll ever see each other again. They plan to meet up but it...

Re: Scriptshadow

Carson Reeves is a pseudonym, and it's not hard to find out his real name with some internet searching. He doesn't trigger me. I also don't buy what he's selling. Occasionally I check out his site...

Re: The Goldfinch

Next time I fly, I may check it out just to see how far I get before giving up. I do like watching movies that don't work (when they had the skill, budget, talent to work) to see where they went...

I'm not a lawyer, and other people will probably give you more concrete advice. This sounds like a case of, "Inspired by..."

I don't think any courts official adjudicate how much of a story might...

Re: Where to ask questions about US crimina law?

I think the best use of your time is to hop on the internet and search until you find a parallel case. For example, I put in the search terms, "rico murder cases." High up in the search results was...

Re: Where to ask questions about US crimina law?

The only type of situation I can think of off the top of my head is situations where the evidence disintegrates. Like -- the witness saw the guilty party put a body into a vat of acid (where his...

Re: Where to ask questions about US crimina law?

No, it wouldn't be sufficient. They would need to verify there is a dead body and rule out other suspects. They would also need to check alibis (like the other poster said) and also see if there is...

Re: Imagine Impact Using AI to Select Candidates...

All good points! I will still apply next round, even with my reservations. Lightning does strike. I am going to say something on social media, or even email, where I explicitly challenge them to...

Re: Imagine Impact Using AI to Select Candidates...

I think they sold the writing the community the idea of a lab that would be open to submissions, and that all writers had a legitimate shot to be considered for the lab in order to get free...

Re: Imagine Impact Using AI to Select Candidates...

You're right. It's not as diverse as I would think it would be. Most are already in the business, in some form. Only two don't have credits.

Re: Imagine Impact Using AI to Select Candidates...

Finalact4 -- I hope I'm wrong! But I don't think so.

Sundance Lab is an example of the older system. They ask a brief set of questions and ask you to submit the first five pages of your script....

Re: Imagine Impact Using AI to Select Candidates...

I don't think the video is used to judge camera/editing skill. It's there so they can confirm what diversity bucket they can put you in.

Re: Imagine Impact Using AI to Select Candidates...

Friday -- I thought about that, the fact they can just reach out and create a lab using people they find through their contacts.

Unfortunately, I've become really cynical since 2016 and it occurred...

Re: Imagine Impact Using AI to Select Candidates...

I read this article and I thought it was really interesting that they a) admitted they're using software to do a pass through the applications and b) admitted (in general terms) what the parameters...

Re: A Marriage Story

I'm glad someone posted about this movie. I really want to see it. The trailer is two trailers, one from his point of view; one from hers. Did the movie itself play with POV, like The Affair did,...

Hi Deni! Your "do nothing" solution sounds like a good one for your situation.

Who knows, maybe he'll continue working on it (even though he's not supposed to) and sell it (even though he's not...

Hi Deni -- From you post, you sound British? What is the jurisdiction for this matter, US or UK? That will make a difference with regard to advice.

I once was in a writing partnership with a...

Re: El Camino - anyone else underwhelmed?

I haven't watched the whole thing. I was a big BB fan, saw every episode multiple times. So I am in the target audience for this one.

I just looked at where I stopped watching. 43 minutes in -- it...

Here is one of my favorite clips, I've watched it a couple times a year for the past seven or eight years....

Re: Thirtysomething Reboot

LOL. Got it.

They'll probably just use the same title, and I would do that, too. But it would be funnier if the parents (played by the original actors) were the main characters and they called it...
