Re: James Franco sued

That's not a "witty" retort; it's a threat. A genuine, malignant threat.

If this is for your own personal edification (as opposed to an assignment):
Have you tried skimming the reviews of the books you're interested in at Amazon? Or at Goodreads? This might give you...

Re: Dupree Miller

You're right and, oops, my friend's book through DMA is pop-culture non-fiction... her novels are repped at a another agency  .

Re: Dupree Miller

I know someone who is repped by them, for novels. Are you looking for a rep for novels? Because...

From their website:
Note: We only handle film/TV rights for books already represented by DMA...

Re: What about pen names?

Publishers? You don't mean screenplays then but novels?

I have three pen names for three different series (two MTS, one YA) I write for the same publisher. The publisher knows my Legal name...

Re: Pet Semetary

All "ranting" aside, I'd say the same (until I read Pet Semetary), along with the profound impact of the short stories Ray Bradbury and the great novels of William Faulkner.

Inspirational stuff,...

Re: Pet Semetary

Favorite?????

I read that book as a kid and was so disturbed by it that I NEVER read another Stephen King book until well into adulthood (or even went near his section in the book store). I even...

Re: Adapting scripts into a novel series

Sounds like an ambitious and fun endeavor! But I do have a question for you: did your agent or your publisher request a book series proposal? In my experience, they are very different things.

Re: Mysterious email. What would you do?

Ah, that's interesting... yeah, I imagine that the negotiating experience was beneficial, even fun.

Re: Mysterious email. What would you do?

Aren't they a management company? Were they trying to poach you as a client or did they not know you already had a manager? I thought they represented scripts; I didn't know they paid to option them....

Re: I own the most valuable literary I.p.

Delusional?...
Or troll?
Or very young?
Or taking too many classes at community college? -- after all, having to juggle 11 syllabi is, perhaps, 8 semester classes too many.

Re: Amazon Studios 45 days - Still evaluating?

Yikes! Those are good results. I submitted a pilot -- it was downloaded once, and was in Evaluating for over a year and then went straight to a pass.

You must have stuff that piques their interest...

Re: Any way for an amateur writer to do this not in LA?

Ah, sorry about that -- but you're right, of course. And I agree: Publishers Weekly is the best deal tracker, which is somewhat comparable to DDP in that regard. So, yeah, Will, good suggestion.

Re: Any way for an amateur writer to do this not in LA?

I agree that DD is amazing and unlike any other site in its orbit...

But THERE IS an equal site for novels (and other kinds of fiction/non-fiction writing): Absolute Write Forums here:...

Re: Inktip

Hey... are ya'll talking about the wanted listings on the Preferred Newsletter or about posting the logline of a script you've written in their magazine?

Just curious.
