Re: Animation screenplay

I'm not sure if it's possible, outside of TV. Time and time again it's been said that animated films are mostly developed in-house and rarely result from a spec (That's not stopping me...shhh!). When...

Re: Edge of Tomorrow Trailer (Formerly known as All You Need Is Kill)

Saw this today. Only person in the theater. Cool for me but bad because it deserved better.

Spoilers:

I was a little disappointed how they ''blunted'' Blunt's character - she was much more of a bad...

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Cap still has to catch up on Rocky, maybe Rocky II. USBs drives and computers are waay down the list.

I don't know how many times I've pulled out a thumb drive or memory card and thought, ''Oh,...

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Go in with an open mind. There are so many people saying it's the greatest Marvel movie ever made that it built my expectations a little high.

If you haven't enjoyed certain Marvel films then you'll...

Re: How much do you write a day?

It's probably just both of us being perfectionists. We could throw just anything on the page (and probably should just to have something) but we agonize because we think it has to be perfect from the...

Re: How much do you write a day?

I sometimes struggle with the page, agonizing over every word, rewriting it when I come back to the scene the next day. I'll look up at the clock and see that I've spent two hours... two days on one...

Re: Frozen (Disney)

There actually is quite a bit of singing, so much so that after about 15-20 I asked my wife, ''When are they going to STOP singing?'' Lol.

There was the ice fishers song to open, then Do You Want To...

Re: Jesse Eisenberg cast as Lex Luthor - Batman Vs. Superman

Thanks, Ire.:D

I learned it from the late, great Steve Sobel. His approach to filmmaking with NFL Films set the standard for sports filmmaking.

Re: Jesse Eisenberg cast as Lex Luthor - Batman Vs. Superman

They approached Shia, but he was busy writing Mario Puzo's The Godfather.

Jesse Eisenberg cast as Lex Luthor - Batman Vs. Superman

"We said Heisenberg, not Eisenberg!"

I love Jesse. This casting was way out of left field, but I can't see him doing a bad job with the role.

Re: Spike Lee (Kickstarter)

There’s still something distasteful about people who have been in the business of TV and filmmaking for decades using crowd-funding services intended to help the little guy.

Re: Man Of Steel: The Blue Boy Scout Grows Up...And Kicks Ass (spoilers)

Goyer and Nolan worked a lot of flashbacks into Batman Begins as well. It just didn't work as well here.

Re: What would you like to read about in Creative Screenwriting?

I've always liked the interviews with writers detailing the creative process and how they broke the story for their particular film.

What others thought of your screenplay

What is the nicest thing someone has said about one of your screenplays?

Conversely, what one criticism was like a punch in the gut?

Nice Comment: "I was bummed when the villains were killed at...

Re: LA Times: Where Have All the Women in Movies Gone?

Yes, but a "male" film like The Hangover cost $35 million and made $467 million worldwide. Not a romantic-comedy and not a tentpole film.

Don't aim for a market. Aim for making a good film. People...
