Re: The Hunt (Cancelled!)

I can't stand the NRA but that doesn't make your statement that law changes would change mass murder rates. The guns would still be bought, illegally, there would then be more violence wrapped around...

Re: The Hunt (Cancelled!)

Re: I did it my wayyyyyyyy

Additionally you can't think I'll get to sub plots and cool characters later. You need to have an A,B, and C story line running through the pilot. A is 65% of the episode all the main characters with...

People will read your well pitched pilot, they will never read multiple episodes.

Re: Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood

Moved to tears? I looked forward to this one more than any movie in a couple years and what a let down. His overindulgent dive into recreating all things 1969 with every scene being WAY too long and...

Re: How do the pros end a query?

I am not a pro, but I have made money writing, have 2 optioned scripts and I always have something out floating around. I end mine as follows.

I am looking for the right partner to help me bring...

Re: Do Managers/Agents USUALLY respond after a full read request?

About half of my reads get responded to without following up. 2 weeks is definitely not the rule of thumb. I wait 6-8 weeks before following up and I've never had anyone get snarky about it.

Re: "Great Concept" Now What?

Have you had any unpaid peers review the material? That's where I would start. I love to get 4-5 eyes on something and see how many agree on what did, and didn't, work. If I get 3-4 opinions echoing...

Re: What's a realistic batting average on queries?

Pilot's from unknown writers are going to seldom be requested. Just a fact. Most of the pilots I've had read was once I had connections with prod co's etc... They already knew my writing so they gave...

Re: Very unique situation - how to query manager/agent?

You just need to start making some phone calls to the powers that be that control the IP. In reality the "buzz" in the local media won't matter to an LA based producer or studio, but can't hurt to...

Re: I'm finished, how to make the next step?

I'll give you my thoughts here, many others will I'm sure as well.

1.) Being from a different continent, I think it must be a very different procedure when it comes to sending and selling a script...

Re: Managers Feedback

In addition, I have found that if a manager truly liked anything at all about your writing they will often leave the door open for follow up. i.e. What else you got? If there wasn't any sort of offer...

Re: Query Letter Success Stories

Yes for features, no for TV. Multiple options and got a project hip pocketed into WME where I got coverage, but failed to land an agent or deal, sad face.

Had a ton of people request the two pilots...

Run away. As fast as you can. She is a complete joke. No clout, no deal making ability. I've talked to her and people in her office in the past and it was a waste of time. They know nothing and then...

Re: The "Double Query"

I would send my normal query 100% as is, then add a PS with something like:

I know this might not be your normal cup of tea, but I also thought you might consider TITLE OF MOVIE: LOGLINE.

Let me...

As for Goldmund's post and follow up. You are just completely wrong and I will address it below.

I don't live in LA but have multiple options...

Re: Too many emails

As an actual answer to the OP I use GMASS an extension added to GMAIL. I pay 8-9 bucks a month and it lets me send 500 emails per day with each email arriving at the intended person as if that email...

Here's a link to The Nice Guys (written in 2003,...

Re: Would you keep reading this?
