Re: Do people query on weekends?

What seems to work for me -- Wednesdays, after their lunch. 2:00-3:00. They're just getting back, they've eaten, less irritable. Wednesdays at 3:00 are when most people at work get online as well...

Re: Website to rate representation?

Yeah I suppose it's a bit trickier to get a database like that going - not always cut and dry. Makes sense. Thanks

Does anyone know if a website exists that rates agents and managers?
Something like rate my teach, or how novelists have the Predators & Editors website?

Thanks

Re: Looking for a mature business relationship

Trust me, they were being nice. Take their advice and run. There's a low ceiling for new posters who are headstrong about some wrong things here -- it seems.

When you think you've got your script to...

Re: Financing Your Own Movie

Seeing some activity in this thread again. I just finished shooting my feature that I've financed myself. We're editing now and going to submit to a bunch of festivals. It's definitely an indie and...

Re: Financing Your Own Movie

I'm in the process of doing this now! I wrote a (mainly) one location comedy, made it as high concept as I could, and cast some great stand up comedians in the city.
We're currently in post right...

Re: Can you pitch multiple ideas in one meeting?

Yup, they read it and want to meet based on that script. I guess I'll get a feel for the meeting and see if the opportunity arises. I guess it's not something I need to mention right away...

Can you pitch multiple ideas in one meeting?

I have a meeting with a premium cable network for an original pilot. I also have a second pilot, suitable for their network, that I really want to pitch them to see if they'd get behind it. Does that...

Re: When querying, worth mentioning contact at a Paid Cable Network?

Yeah it's starting to make sense now. Wasn't sure if all things being equal, that might be a bit of an advantage or whatever. I'll forego mentioning it. One other thing just popped into mind, is it...

Re: When querying, worth mentioning contact at a Paid Cable Network?

My contact did read it, and liked it a lot. He would pass it to the right people at the network. He can set up a meeting for me to talk about it / pitch it to the higher ups. I guess it'd be a lot...

When querying, worth mentioning contact at a Paid Cable Network?

I'm about to query a select few reps. In the e-mail, should I mention that I have a close contact at a paid cable network, and they'll take a meeting with me to hear about my pilot? The pilot is...

Re: Anyone strike a deal with Netflix?

That's awesome. And sounds great. My agent pitched a feature script they were interested in, not a series/pilot. Congratz to you and your brother on closing that deal. Good for you two. I'm really...

Anyone strike a deal with Netflix?

A Netflix producer is reading my script now. Anyone deal with them before? Seems like a new beast that I don't know the nature of. Are their option/purchase deals comparable to the big screen?

thanks

Re: Lit Managers at New Wave Entertainment

Oh cool. Sounds good. Maybe I'll see if there's a newer lit manager there starting out - if they're shuffling around staff.

Good point. Definitely working on the manager situation now. Have 2 reading a spec at the moment. This all before I think I fire my agent.
