Re: Query Letter Success Stories

Re: Carousel Productions

I emailed them years ago using the format firstname dot lastname @ carouseltelevision dot com. But they wouldn't accept any submissions unless it was through an agent/lawyer.

Re: Writing a stand-up routine within a script

I've never done it, but you can check out Apatow's script for Funny People to see how he did it. It's the first thing that pops up when you Google for it.

Re: Montage and Series of Shots - Can I be more efficient?

Are all these hello and name introductions in the actual script? Cuz you can lose all that and just go straight to the good stuff. Especially, if they're minor characters like you say then the...

Re: What do you do when you cut scenes?

I do the same thing, except my file's called EXTRAS. i think it's a good idea to do. It doesn't happen often, but I have occasionally pulled something from there I realized I needed and put it back...

Re: Resending Query Letters

Me too. I didn't even change anything in the email except the subject line. Makes me wonder how many queries are even opened, yet alone read.

It's firstname@redhourfilms.com

Good luck trying to get an unsolicited read from them. I've been trying for years. Let me know if you break though.

Not sure of the email, but I did get a read request from Mandate once with a Pineapple Express type script. Have you tried Mandate's email structure to the people at Rough House? It might...

I have a Valentine's skit written. I think it's on an old hard drive. I'd have to dig it up. Or you can watch it here.

Re: Intel on Kaplan/Perrone

From my experience, it can be long awhile, if ever. I once emailed Kaplan three months after a read request and he still hadn't read it yet. To this day I still don't think he's read it.

Not sure...

Re: Best Script Coverage to Generate Queries?

I'm assuming most scripts suck. So most queries people send out are for bad scripts. A recommend from a good script service might validate that the script is good and worth checking out. But I could...

Re: Best Script Coverage to Generate Queries?

So assuming both queries where exactly same, a query which included a recommend from Script Shark would generate the same amount of responses from one that didn't?

Re: Best Script Coverage to Generate Queries?

I shouldn't have used the word coverage. I meant to include script analysis/ note services as well. For once, I actually have a great concept/logline, but before I start querying i was looking for a...

Re: Proper Format - Series of bad dates

It's great how Apatow and Carell wrote that sequence. I used that format in the middle of the scene when things speed up real fast.
